Ware's best years have been wasted on Wade and Jerry's pet coaching project. Same can be said of Romo and Witten. Truly a waste of talent.

How many times have you seen a guy take less....somewhere else rather than take it from their current team. Happens all the time.

Yes, we do see it all the time. Because the player dont understand that they value has declined until negotiation got ugly. By that time there's no way player would sign with existing team even though their existing team offered the same contract. The player feel disrespected so sign with another team for less. No exactly smartest financial move but it's the EGO talking.

He battled injuries the last two seadons and disappeared in the 2nd half each of those years. He is on the decline. He isn't getting younger and is making top dollar.

Can you name me one big contract in the history of sports where the contract doesn't pay more for what the player has done than what the player will do?

eat crow? I love him and hope the guy takes a pay cut and is here, but with the cash he is getting for the next few seasons (in theory), he is WAY overpriced...I hope he gets back to his old ways and causes pressure once again

I hope that at this time next year, the defense, led by Ware, leads the team into our bye as we wait for our opponent in round #2...then you will here the noise from me "nom, nom, nom...pitoooie" as I spit the black feathers to the ground

I dont care about other big contracts. I care about his. He has THREE years on that huge contract right now. We can cut him this year or next year and get out rather safely. A restructure will ruin that. Cut him or pay cut. Simple as that.

Body breaking down didn't injuries aren't the same thing. Muscle pulls and tears happen to young athletes in their prime. Is Sean Lee's body also breaking down? Demarrco Murray? He's 31 right now, you're talking like the guy is ancient. Not to mention, as many here have already pointed out, our strength and conditioning staff seriously needs to be questioned with seemingly our entire team breaking down.

Back, neck, stingers, elbows, quad. Heck, when he last spoke he didnt sound confident. He stated he feels good at the beginning and then the injuries set in. You think the last 2 years were coincidental? Willing to risk $15 mil on it? I hope jerry isn't.

He will make you all eat crow this time next year. For real, whats with all the hate on him. Maybe it would be better if the guy just stood on the sidelines like so many of our others do when they get hamstring, quad and other injuries. The guy played hurt and you could see that. He got off to a good start again this year. You don't lose a step during a season, he got hurt. Lay off all the cut Ware nonsense and see what the guy does healthy next year.

Well, I hope you are right, but all players decline with age, and Ware is showing the signs.

His best years are behind him. I hope he takes a pay cut, otherwise he is not worth the price.

New England would probably trade for him. Belicheck could squeeze that last good year out of him.

Paying him that much is a luxury the Boys can't afford regardless of his play. He could lead the league in sacks or have zero but thanks to JJ and little Stevie's cap management, we can't pay that much for one player if we want any depth. Same for Austin and Witten. That being said, the Jones boys will restructure him into 2020 and his base this year will be 30 cents with a bonus in 2014 of 15 mill.

Dominated Tyron all training camp.

Tyron made the pro bowl.

Ware got hurt.

Let's just throw him away!

Having said that I think the Cowboys do have a case to be made in asking him to take a pay cut. But no way do I want ware cut so we can go spend that same money free agents other teams don't want because even in cutting Ware we won't have top dollar to spend.

Just dumb.

Ware will be back. He was playing great in preseason and owning Tyron Smith half the time. You don't go to that to a complete scrub in a season without having some injuries.

Again, I love Ware. But.... playing in preseason does not equate to production for the entire NFL season. There lies the problem. He is constantly dinged up for the past two years now. He is a warrior and plays through but this is an indication of declining ability to recover as athlete age.

We simply do not have $15 million luxury to test it. Yes, he may have a great yr but chances are that he won't. Cowboys needs 3 very productive defensive players for that $15 million dollars rather than taking a chance hoping to hit a homerun.

You have the play the odds here. Cowboys need to invest smartly for the future NOT the PAST.

Did anyone here see Ware own Smith or is that all from media reports?

Nope that was media reports from our beat writers etc.

You routinely had posts like this coming form the mothership.

1. DeMarcus Ware – The reason Ware gets the nod of Bryant is simple – he’s been dominant on just about every play of camp. When it comes to one-on-one battles, Ware hasn’t really lost one. It’s gotten to the point where Tyron Smith’s ability has been questioned some, just because Ware has beaten him regularly. Two things appear evident about Ware: He looks completely healthy this year after a handful of injuries in 2012, and this 4-3 scheme will be a great fit for him. Ware looks as good in this camp as he has in any other camp of his career. For a future Hall of Famer, that’s good enough to land the top spot on this list.

Restructure and make him a situational pass rusher to keep the wear and tear down.

He could play for another 5 years and get plenty of clutch sacks, ala Jeffcoat and others who did that at the tail of their careers.

The local media guys are not the always the brightest bulbs in the box. Who knows if they just saw them practicing some techniques.

I don't remember Ware dominating anyone in the preseason games.

They thought that something was wrong with Tyron Smith in that report. We obviously know that he was outstanding all season. If they were wrong about that, they maybe they were wrong altogether.

I'm not saying it didn't happen or that they are definitely wrong, just that there is a good probability that they were wrong based on their track record.

Well that report was stating they thought something was wrong with Smith because he was getting dominated by Ware. Turns out Ware was just dominating. And Ware started out the season very strong. Then he got hurt.

They say he was dominating. We never saw Ware dominate Smith with our own eyes.

Yes, Ware was decent early in the season, but not as good as Smith, IMO.

Well yes. Because we're not on the Cowboys and don't have the ability to just watch Cowboys practice whenever we want. What else do you want verses media reports?

By decent you mean 4 sacks and an interception in his first 3 games?

If only all our lineman could be that decent.
