Schottenheimer was the OC of Seattle from 2018-2021 with Russell Wilson as his QB.

He definitely wants to get a mobile QB for hos style of offense that runs a lot of play action.

It will be interesting to see how Lance plays out and it sort of gives the Cowboys a chance to move on from Dak after this season.

Move on after this season? BWAAAAAAA!!!!!

You are going to be very disappointed. Lance has about 3 years to develop at his own pace. Lets not rush the kid. He needs a lot of work and time.

Will be good to see a QB with quicker feet to run it

I think theres a very low chance at Lance replacing Dak, but stranger things have happened. I like the move move though. Never got a true chance with the 49ers, so worth a look here.

It figures Schottenheimer was behind this trade for Lance. Bad move. Lance sucks. He makes Cooper Rush look like a top 10 QB. Even Will Grier is better than Lance right now.

He got a big chance. They actually handed him the starting job last year. He got hurt, but its abundantly clear the kid isn't ready to read NFL defenses. He needs lots of work and time to develop where there isn't the pressure.

I like the low cost move, but we need to give this kid the time he needs.

I don't think it will happen either, but man did this shock me when I heard this trade.

Especially considering how Cooper is a 5-1 starter.

That would be like buying a bicycle for when you move on from your car. You can't just insert Lance. We won't win 3 games. He needs a very specific offense to have any success. A lot of running from the QQ through the RPO. Quick reads in the passing game. One or two reads tops, and then take off. The entire offense would have to change.

True, but he still hasnt played enough to fully understand what he fully is. Low cost move for young talent. Not expecting big things, but mine as well.

If someone wants trey to work.
That kid needs to stay on the bench during games
Wear a seat out in the film room
Have a Coach in his ear all day every day

In other words if he has a chance it is going to take some time and a lot of dedication.

Right now on his best day he is not going to beat out Dak.

If Dak leaves without a new contract, it is because it is about money or serious injury.
It is not about this kid beating him out this season.

If you want to be labeled a realist...be realistic.

This kid needs time if he is ever going to make it

On a side note.
Until the story comes out....
Let's not get all stupid with the attitude of who wanted lance here and if anyone disagrees you start some lame arguments over it.

I like QB' s who can run as the backup but I'm not sure trey has enough arm talent.
He's definitely got a very strong arm, just seems to break down under pressure, and isn't super accurate beyond the short stuff. Who knows though!

Trey Lance could not beat out Sam Darnold for the backup QB job. Lets be very clear about this: the coaches who saw every throw Lance ever made and every decision he made as a pro thought he was worse than Sam Darnold.
