ware missed a sack too when Brunell basically just threw it downfield with Ware hitting him on the 3rd down play that they didnt complete and had to punt. that is basically a sack.

Ellis is doing great IMO. Ware will get his opportunities to face lesser tackles, and on those days, he will rack up the sacks....

Didn't the bogus helmet-to-helmet penalty on Ware negate one of his sacks, or did Brunell get the ball off in time?

That's another problem I had with that call... IT WAS STILL A FUMBLE! Do they negate fumbles for helmet to helmet hits?? Because the refs didn't even address that part IIRC.

I believe you can challenge that call too. That's why I don't remember them saying anything, because I was screaming, CHALLENGE IT!!

I believe it still counted as a sack but there was just a penalty added after the play was over.

I think Ellis is adjusting very well. He's helping the team.

However, there is no way that Ellis is playing as good as Ware. That's not anything negative about Greg. It's just that Ware is a beast.

Ellis is a better pas rusher at this point. Ware basically is just speed and quickness, whereas even though Ellis is slower than Ware, he is still fairly quick AND has the strength to shove people aside.

I have to respectfully disagree with your over views here. Ware is quick. He's big. And he can make big plays. I love him and want to see him line up for the Cowboys for the next 10 years.

But I'm watching the beginning of an All-pro DE to an All-pro linebacker. Before you canonize Ware, go back and look how many times the skins ran wide to his side for big yardage. He does not contain the run at all. Ellis was a monster vs the run and we know how great he can rush. And he has shown really good instinct against the passes in the flat. Ware still has a lot to learn...but he's learnin.

Ellis, playing a brand new spot is great !!!!

I could swear that Ellis was getting held by Jansen A LOT toward the end of the game and it wasn't getting called. There was at least one play where it was VERY clear that Ellis' jersey was getting yanked (down around the ribs on his right side), yet no call...

He may think its more difficult, but IMO, he's playing the best ball I've seen him play

He prolly kept "running THrough The hold":laugh2:

How is it that you disagreed with me? I didn't even come close to "canonizing" Ware - my post was about Ellis being a better pass rusher than Ware ..........

I can only assume that your disagreement was with the single comment about Ware being only speed and quickness at this point. If so, perhaps the word "only" is innaccurate, but in the context of my post you will see that the point is that Ellis uses strength to his advantage rushing the passer and Ware does not.

I also think he is our best pass rusher. He seems to be playing stronger than I've ever seen him on the rush. He is just bull rushing his way to the QB. I love it when both Ware & Ellis meet at the QB. It's like, "OK, which one of us gets this sack?"....haha.

I did hear Andrea Cramer say that Ellis would still rather play the 4-3 DE position. I'm sure he always will. That's all he's played his whole career.

We finally started switching up.

It was awesome. Ellis moving to the right ware moving to the left.

We had a lot of pressure on brunnell tonight. It gave him hoppy feet.

Now for tennessee.

Who will be 0-3 and hungry for a win...that is what parcells likes to call a trap game.
And, if Carpenter could master the ILB spot, can you imagine Carpenter and Ayodell moving to the outside spots, with Ware and Ellis coming in over the guards? It would make for a great shift that would surely challange the blocking scheme of the offense. Of course, they could try that now with James. Don't know how good James would be in coverage, but I have to assume Ayodell and Carpenter are pretty good, since both were outside linebackers.

James was an OLB too, just not a very successful one once he got to the NFL. Remember, he was the guy being groomed to replace Coakley.
