he is channeling john madden.

“We’ll have extensive personnel meetings in regards to (the cap),” coach Jason Garrett said. “When you put that together with the financial part of it, the salary cap part of it, we think it’s really important to do the football evaluation thoroughly independent of that. And then you add that as an element. It’s an element that’s alive and well in the National Football League. Money matters in the salary-cap era we’re in right now. But I do believe the football evaluation is primary, and then you add that element into it, and then you make your best decisions for your team in regards to that player and how he fits in your team.”

Garrett may have his problems when it comes to coaching on the field of play but when it comes to the area of talent acquisition, he's been nothing but a positive influence for the Cowboys. I can't find fault with him in that area. If Jerry sees fit to listen to his advice, our talent acquisition will probably continue to improve even more.

Despite what the lynch mob here may believe. I think he knows what hes doing....

Next year he will prove it, or be coaching somewhere else.

I have to give you props bro.............you said that Garrett would be back even if we didnt win the division..............I said no way, Jerry is not that big of an idiot............Apparently Jerry is that big of an idiot.............you were right and I was wrong.

LOL..........congrats.

Do you think Kiffin and Callaghan was his idea?

What the Hell is going on around here???

Next thing you know, we will all be holding hands saying it's a good idea to keep ware, give him more money, and that it's all injuries to blame.

JG needs to go, he is barely good at anything....this rkg crap? Not buying, 8-8, nonchalant looks and smiles after a defeat? He can take that elsewhere

Maybe Jerry is not an idiot either although he really gets on my last nerve at times.

I think most of the coaching decisions are his. I don't know what goes on between Jerry and him but I doubt its what some here think it is.

I do not think there is anything to suggest he is good or bad in the area of talent acquisition. I think he can relate to the scouts, but ultimately he is not going to be the one who exclusively has the GM's ear. Since Jones "listens" to everyone, including disconnected drinking buddies, it is impossible to say he has had a significant impact.

He is really saying it is the bad contracts this team hands out that impact the operation. Nothing new.

unless there are injuries.........

Do you mean 'unless there are enough critical injuries that eventually overcome any reasonable adaptation to succeed' or is just sarcasm? If you put an animal in a habitat that it is not built to succeed in and it is bad enough it can't adapt to it then it will not do well.

But what if who puts the animal in the habitat really is not the one who put them in the habitat and is just a figment of your imagination? What if there is a group decision on who puts the animal there?

LOL, it seems that he is just recognizing the emergence of the salary cap era. Hard to blame him though, he could be forgiven for even thinking that there was an active salary cap given the actions of his general manager.
