I think McCarthy stays

I would normally say no way. I preface this by saying I like Mike a lot. He’s a really good guy, and his offense, outside of the running game is light years better than Moore and JG. Having said that, with Bill and a few others just laying out there the time to pounce is now.

Bill is 71 and wants to pass Shula for most wins. He needs 14 more wins. This team is ready to win now, they just need discipline, and a culture shock.
Agree with this. I actually like Mike too, but it's been four years and is starting to feel like he's taken this group about as far as he can take them. He is on his 2nd offensive coordinator, 2nd defensive coordinator, and the results continue to be the exact same.

Something has to change for Jerry to continue to sell this team to the fan base and it's a lot easier to overhaul the coaching staff instead of blowing up the roster.

Bill Belichick IMO is perfect for Jerry to make an offseason splash without having to do too much else. You give Bill a 2 year deal and Jerry probably picks the OC the same way he picked Garrett/Moore. Works out for both sides as Bill gets a team he can pretty much win 10 games a year with by accident meanwhile Jerry gets to dominate the headlines during the playoff still and shows the world how smart he is with his OC pick.

After having some time to think about it, I don't believe Jerry will fire McCarthy for two reasons and these are Jerry reasons not necessarily sensible ones.

1) He'll look to the improvement on offense in just the first year with Mike in charge. He'll expect growth in year 2. He won't want to give up on that. He'd see it as a disservice to his QB. Who he's about to pay again.

2) McCarthy will be coaching out his final year of his contract in 2024. Jerry's mentioned in the past liking this scenario as it's a great motivator for a coach.

This is how Jerry thinks. It will take some effort from his advisors to get him to change direction right now. He won't want to do it and I don't think some conversation he had with Bill Belichick in 1996 plays any part in this.

Another go for McCarthy in a make or break year. That's my prediction.
I think the decision is in Belichick’s hands.

I think you’re right. I hope they s-can quinn at least. And solari.

I just can’t jet go of Jerry saying he was miserable during Parcel’s years and think he’ll get a belichick or harbaugh type. He wants to win while sitting in on meetings, he just Durant want to win.

I agree
Doubt he is fired
I think they will do the following:
- Replace Quinn and get bigger LBs and say they are committing to stop the run
- get a starting RB and say they are revamping the run game
- give McCarthy one more year
- whether or not they extend Dak I am not sure
There’s also a big chance this team’s locker room lost its respect for Mac yesterday. McCarthy is going to have a hard time walking into the locker room in 2024 and get the players back on board. It would set up a team that already has culture problems to implode early next year if it starts out slow.

That loss yesterday wasn’t just a loss. It was a complete credibility explosion.

I saw Newy on last night and he thinks it happens because he embarrassed Jerry.
I don’t think Jerry ever gets embarrassed enough to make real changes. The most embarrassing loss in Cowboys history won’t change him.

I don’t know how many times it will take fans here to understand that Jerry Jones does not think like a fan. He thinks like a guy who wants first and foremost to play with his toy every day any way he sees fit. And he will always look for a head coach - first and foremost - to make him feel comfortable doing what he wants to do.

Every fan who thinks “Jerry is mad” and is going to fire McCarthy doesn’t realize that’s not what he’s thinking tonight. He’s wondering if he can still keep Big Mac around for his comfort while hoping fans will forget by July that this even happened.

Like you Risen I expect come July we will have an 81 year old Jerry Jones smiling broadly at his “State of the Cowboys“ address in “Ox-nerd” telling us his high expectations and why we should all buy sand from him again in this desert called “the last 28 years.”

And the fans will come back in droves.
Lol lol lol lol truth

Of course he does. Jerry is stuck on Dak; Dak loves McCarthy; and McCarthy doesn't push back on Jerry's carnival atmosphere. Hey, the money keeps rolling in.
I don't think there is a carnival atmosphere. Just poor choices particularly in head coaches and coordinators also players relative do effectively competing in the post season. That's all on this drain trust of nepotistic executive management conceptually moored in the no salary cap and free agency 90s with little or no accountability leading to loss of their jobs. The ones that get the hook are always the guys in the trenches.

that is the worst part...3-.12-5 seasons...one wild card win...deplorable

But some on this board says you can’t fire a winning coach, bull just ask Tony Dungy. Sometimes it takes a different voice to get you to the promise land.

I am not happy about it but I believe you are right.

Dak and McCarthy are tied to the hip at this point, Dak says he is the reason he had the best season of his career statistically so I don't see how you fire McCarthy then turn around and make Dak the highest-paid player in the NFL. Sadly, I don't see Jerry moving on from Dak, he is going to pay him whether we agree with it or not.

Jerry loves his Yes Men so MM will stay ,unless if JJ feels the fan heat.

Same here. The biggest factor being #2: Jerry is playing the same game he played with Garrett. Doesn't want to pay a coach for nothing, knows he's a lame duck and doesn't care. Justifies it as him putting pressure on the coach, but in reality, he just doesn't want to go thru the hiring process and prefers status quo above all. All about comfort and least amount of disruption to his life.

I'm amazed by the number of people who think Jerry is going to fire Big Mike after watching the same owner sit through 8-8 on a loop for half a decade. Mike isn't going anywhere after three 12 win seasons in a row...at least not this year. Jerry will let him finish up his deal before moving off him next off-season. He'll try to sell Quinn's inevitable departure as the necessary change. That will be enough to get him through the remainder of Mike's deal.

Mac can fire DQ and be his own defensive coordinator now too.

Mccarthy has only had 3 years

Lets run it back
