I think that some fans here are taking Romos performance overboard

I think that some fans here are taking Romos performance overboard. He played pretty good and we should all be happy. But to say or even think he can be a possible replacement to Drew or even be ok with him taking over if Drew got hurt is a straight up outrage!.

Im dont know if it is an outrage, but it is definately a bit far fetched. I think a lot of us are just excited that Dallas actually has a good looking young prospect at the QB position.

I finally got to see the game late last night. I was trying to figure out who Romo reminded me of, but couldn't quite nail it down. Then it hit me... Rich Gannon. Great job of checking down receivers, and more than capable of scrambling if necessary. Man, I would love to see Romo's carrer take off like Gannon's did.

Both were from a small school.
Both were outstanding athletes coming out of college.
Both were considered a long shot to play QB in the NFL (Gannon was drafted in the 4th round, but with the intention of converting him to a DB).
Both had to ride the pine their first few years in the league.

Then Gannon launched after injury gave him an opportunity to play. I am not hoping for anyone to get injured, but I would love to see Romo launch!

Wait till Romo gets TO to throw too. He will be that much better. Also Bill has a very vanilla offense in preseason games.

I doubt Romo throws to TO ever this preseason. Bledsoe gets the starts and TO will more than likely leave the game with him. And Bill Parcells regular season offense is very vanilla, unless the other is scoring alot.

LOOK IN THOSE EYES - THEY SAY STARTER

Didn't you hear? He's the next Brett Favre! Had he started last year we would have won 3 superbowls in one year alone!

Look, it was a good showing no doubt, and hopefully it does indicate his future, but it was a preseason game against mostly 2nd teamers and below.

Seriously, as a collective, we Cowboys fans are about the most pompous think-we-are-coaches fans on the planet, and then some have the nerve to go bash on other teams' fans. Having grown up in DFW I've never seen a place where so many claim loyalty and then just ride the bandwagon home. And homers, that's definitely something we have our fair share of too.

What is good is that we do have some very savvy fans, especially on these boards, who can see things like, yeah our OL sucks, or hmm, maybe if they think Romo is good enough to handle the backup duties this year if Bledsoe goes down, it doesn't mean we cut Henson and rush to sign a veteran QB, because really what 3rd string QB has won the superbowl anyway?

Just venting, sometimes people on here need to chill out and gain perspective. But I would thank the others that make life better (like Theebs) and offer great football knowledge and articles

I would agree that some are going overboard based on the 1st pre-season game of the year. I would have to think if Dallas planned on going with Romo we would bring in a vet who would be willing to be a backup (Bledsoe is not willing) and have Romo work as the full time starter through out camp and the pre-season to actually get ready for the season opener. Like most who watched the game I was happy with Romo and feel a bit better should he be forced into action but starting QB no I highly doubt that is in the cards.

Romo is a career backup, just like Jason Garrett was for many years in Dallas. Nothing he does in preseason is going to make me think otherwise. If Bledsoe goes down this year, Parcells WILL be looking to bring in another vet QB.

You know a VET QB, someone who's actually thrown a TD pass in a regular season game.
