I think we are overhyping da boyz, because it is a new season with a new coach, setting us up for a let-down

that is all. I'll wait for the final analysis after the 2nd pre-season, but I'm not Impressed right now. Too much giddy stuff. The boyz are still my team, just "show me the money"

It never fails. Every year, right around this time during training camp, we hear the mantric cries, "the sky is falling; the sky is falling"!

It never fails. . .

First of all I just want to say your avatar is the shiznittt. Awesome photoshopping. Second of all I totally agree with you. Make no mistake, we are going to be a very good team but it always takes time for a new staff and it's ideology to gel with the new team. I still stand by my comments that we'll make the payoffs this year and do some damage. It just remains to be seen just how long it takes the players to "buy into" the Wadeology. :star:

Philly is still the NFC East favorite until proven otherwise.

I guess I'm the same as most. just show me after the season starts, and yes, the Philli media has crowned them the NFC EAST champs until we kick their ***.

I'm just being cautious, because of all the unknowns

Now back in '93, I was saying "Bring it" with no hesitation

EXACTLY! This team is too fragile for me to get excited this early...

I think we like any other fan base.

The beauty of the preseason/training camp is that fans of all teams can have Lombardi Dreams.

We're gonna win 10 Super Bowls in a row with this team........and then Romo is gonna be elected President.

His first executive order is going to be the immediate execution of all non-Dallas Cowboy fans.....like High Tech Dave.

As the young DC has already surmised, the defense is talent laden, and media metric-gurus have pretty much annointed the O Pro Bowlian.

Then there is the undisputed FACT that the last head coach's control freakism robbed the star running back of all but his most robotic moves, the star receiver of his rightful diversity of routes, and the young QB of the benefits that should rightly have resulted from his intelligence and mobility. And of course, they all played not just hurt but injured, and were worn down to a nub by a hellish training camp routine.

Parcells also fattened up his defensive players like cows for the slaughterhouse, rendering them sluggish and inefficient. Linemen were not trusted to stunt, or zone blitz, dumb as they were in the HC's mind.

Bill misplayed most of his personnel and rotated unwisely. Insisted on read and reacting when proactivity was called for, and elevated bend don't break to an art form, only to meet disaster when safeties who should have been blitizing were called upon to cover. Insisted on two gapping and the ever constant phobia over run D..well, clearly, the team's talent was rendered moot and now that Bill has finally retired himself, the true abilities of the players will be unleashed.

The 'loss' of control-obsessed, leader-bashing, robot-making Tuna should translate to at least THREE more wins - easily.

Yes. The extent to which Parcells stood in the way of this team's talent and success can NOT be over-estimated!

LOL.

We shall see, Juke, we shall see.

One thing I already LOVE about Phillips is he is going to put it more on the players to make plays. He is going to trust them to be in the right position, not to over-reach, to underplay, or to misguess.

He is going to let the chips fall where they may, and that's a GOOD thing, because Bill's 'buck stops here' mentality was tragically two-sided...it both overtaxed him AND relieved his underlings of full accountability.

Parcells didn't trust his coaching staff enough to do its job, much less his players, and there is no way you can win in today's game w.o delegating authority (just ask Joe Gibbs).

Phillips' head, like every other NFL or college HC's, will be the one that rolls if the team fails. BUT he'll delegate responsibilty better, and with him, we will really see what the players are made of , I think.

I'm right there with ya Musie.

Phillips has a depth of thinking that oddly, Parcells didn't.

What I am expecting to see with this defense under Phillips is what I thought I would have seen with Parcells. When he was with the Giants, those defenses had FUN...they were aggressive and they dictated terms.

I guess, it's as simple as, the team played like Parcells looked.

Shame. He was such a great, funny, passionate coach.

And while I'm at it, another problem was, until Owens joined the team (and even some times after) it was Parcells' team. He was the main attraction. If ya watched Monday night football, they were going to always lead with Parcells. The cameras were going to be on him the entire game. And I just don't see how a coach can be the main attraction of any team. And especially to the degree that Parcells was. It was all too much. It's a player's game.

We'll see. If it all falls apart, I'm sure Phillips will take a beating. I'm just not expecting it to fall apart.

Personally, i think people look at the talent up and down this roster and wonder why in the heck they didn't win a division or PO game in the last 2 years. There is every reason for the expectations to be high inside and outside the fan base.

I'm not sure how you can tell how well the team is doing since they haven't even played a preseason game.

I'm glad that Romo has reportedly looked excellent and a lot of the defensive players along with Owens are looking good, but so far it really means nothing to me either way.

Plus the preseason only means something if you do really bad (i.e. the Commanders last year) or really well (provided you don't play your starters for long periods of time and throw every play in the book). And even then it's no guarantee of showing you how the team will do come the regular season.
