I think we need to be in on Trey Sermon

:lmao: And they call Jerry Jones a snake oil salesman. None of that is true and you know it. We don't need a guy that can pound the rock like Zeke, we have Zeke. We don't need a guy to replace Pollard if he leaves when we have Pollard to replace Pollard when he doesn't leave. And you don't have to yell at us when telling us what Sermon can do. Saying it louder doesn't make your lies any truer.
First, we are talking about a 3rd string guy. If he were playing instead of Zeke it would be because Zeke is injured, so in that cause we would not have Zeke to "pound the rock".

Second, he said "if" Pollard leaves, not that he will. He was talking about insurance just in case, not a certainty. If Pollard doesn't leave, it's still not a bad idea to have as good a guy in the backup role as possible

These things said, I'm not saying Sermon is that best guy for the 3rd string role, but he seems to be at least enough of a player to be a consideration. Certainly not so unreasonable that someone should be berated for tossing out the idea.

As for the all caps comment - I have to agree with you on that.

This is real simple Trey Sermon is even better than Davis we have on our practice squad that kid is a workhorse waiting to get out. If you're a good back especially with at physical run team in a Shanahan offense like SF you don't get cut if you're legit. Those are simple facts.

We had the most devastating blocker at FB (Nick Ralston) I'd ever seen in college....and could catch out of the backfield and run....and never gave him a chance during real action. What's new about that.....pffffftt!!!

Nobody said that. In fact the premise is the opposite. If pollard leaves....

Jeeze....people have to make up stuff just to argue.
YOU quoted me, question my take on our third RB. YOU tried to put an spin on my post by bringing up Emmitt. Thusly, YOU made up this scenario about me acting like I wanted the best of the best at RB3. Most RB3's are jags and need to contribute on special teams. So, YOU are the one who's making things up just to argue, because my post had nothing to do with having the best of the best at RB3.

Dowdle knows the offense, he knows the blocking assignments, and he's good on special teams. But it seems like, you want to replace him with someone who doesn't know the offense, who doesn't know the blocking assignments, and who's not as good on special teams. Wow! Great idea there bud.

So if you want to avoid confusion in the future, then don't put your very own spin on someone else's post. Because YOU created this argument, as you call it, by quoting me and putting a spin on my post.

YOU made something out of nothing, not me.

The team is signing Quadree Ollison, 6'1 230 lbs RB with STs experience to the practice squad. There's your power back.

Trey Sermon rushed for 331 yards in a Big Ten title game, then followed that with 254 yards vs Clemson in a college football playoff game.

But OMG, Rico Dowdle. Tell me one thing Rico Dowdle has done. I'll wait.

Not sure about the fascination of Rico with some on these guys on the forum. You would call that guy a JAG if he was on another team being released. Get over it. The sun will rise with or without Rico. Besides, he is taking space Malik Davis should be in.

I think this is a bigger issue than we realize.

We had Amari seemingly complain about play management.

We had Zeke having to raise his hand for substitution instead of Moore managing it. This tips off an adept defense like 20-15 seconds....Pollard should be in there before they even know what hit them.

We're having trouble with o-line blocking, make zeke your star high paid rb do it and ditch a cap[able fb.

We have a fairly competent WR further down on the list and never could figure out how to use him. Watch the dang ohio state highlights for godsakes!

Lot of people think we're mismanaging Tony Pollard.....I tend to agree.

And that's just the obvious. I think we have a very serious issue here...not sure if it magically gets corrected.

Y'all act like the third RB is going to get a lot of plays in on the offense.

How did Ron Dayne do in college?
How did Cedric Benson do in college?
How did Kai-Jana Carter do in college?
How did Trent Richardson do in college?
How did Alonzo Highsmith do in college?
How did Tim Bacabutuak or what ever do in college?

So yeah keep talking to me about being good in college.

LOL...dude. All that barking you did...then accuse ME? Good lord. It was just an idea to think ahead in an emergency. It was never meant to "give him a lot of carries". NOBODY SAID THAT! You made that up so you could fight on the internet.

People...sheesh.

Ok ok I get it, was thinking along the same lines btw.

Success in college does not guarantee similar future results in NFL.

But come on now, spell check that last name...unless it's correct.

That was the kicker :):muttley::lmao:

He was a RB for the Panthers. I admit I should have googled him. But that's one heck of a name.

Compared to whom, Rico Dowdle?

Sermon rushed for 331 yards in the 2020 Big Ten title game then followed that up with 254 yards vs Clemson in the playoff.

You're forgetting that 80 percent of people will comment on players they don't even know about, pretending they do.

Seems like he was a good pickup. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets called up to replace Dowdle once he understands the offense, especially if like the RB coach says, we'll need the third back to play some because we're going to have Elliott and Pollard on the field at the same time. Would be good to have a power back who can come in and finish games for us when we're ahead.

Dude is a power back . You can play him at FB and he is quick down hill runner who can pound the rock like Zeke.
He is really young and can replace Pollard if he leaves. SERMON CAN BLOCK EFFECTIVELY AND CATCH VERY WELL OUT OF THE BACKFIELD
We don't do fullbacks here in Dallas.

all the alum watching aside...who you going to replace on the gameday roster for him to play? no doubt im not stuck to Rico..but I also tend to think the SF coach kinda knows what he is doing when it comes to RB's he also must have gone through waivers and there are several run heavy teams that also said no...can he play ST ?

Some teams a player doesn;t fit the scheme. I'm actually disappointed and surprised at the cut.....did seem like he unperformed after coming off some lethal NCAA games.

We're not expecting him to break into the #1 or #2. If we are okay with Dowdle, or confident of a future draft/FA....then yes we should just skip.

For those couple games he reminded me of Dickerson. :). Big upright runner with speed and cut.
