I think we need to talk about coaching around the league

Blame Vegas!!
Yeah A LOT of people are convinced the NFL is fixed because of gambling.

Use to be illegal for Players, coaches, management etc to gamble on games, now gambling has tons of commercials for it on TV during the games.

More tight games than ever before, questionable calls and bad coaching.

Real WWE stuff.

Well, exactly, it's like, if you're in OT, you're in FG range, and you're down to less than 20 seconds with no timeouts, you kick the field goal. Like, there's no doing the simple thing. It's just idiotic coaching that gets beyond insane to watch lol.
I don’t know what Quinn was trying to accomplish. They’re in easy FG range with today’s kickers. Another 5 or 7 yards isn’t going to make that much of a difference. I really think he thought they had another time out. But that’s inexcusable to not know.

In days of yore, coaches would’ve kicked it when in range. Too many bad thangs can happen if you run a play.

I know we like to complain about Schotty and Parker. And it is true that coaching matters.. and it's easy to have a bubble as Cowboys fans focusing only on the Cowboys..but I think we need to talk about coaching around the league. Specifically, the lack of quality.

Just today, without the Cowboys playing, the Jaguars and Eagles played a game in England where there was....a lack of intelligent coaching on both sides. Sirianni looked like a total moron as usual, such as allowing a return when JAX had no timeouts. Cohen made some braindead decisions like the wildcat on first and goal at the 1. The Seahawks just made an incredibly dumb decision to not kneel it out with 18 seconds leading into half. Meanwhile, the Commanders apparently forgot that they didn't have timeouts, while the Giants fumbled in a critical situation.

That's just some of the obvious errors today that were hilarious. The point is, our coaches are far from the only ones. It's shocking to see what seems to be across the board idiotic coaching. Our entire division has horrible HCs. Seattle's defending champion coach made a braindead decision. And this was all today.

So, I have to ask.....what happened? Is it all just the focus on analytics that people forgot about intelligent decisions? Have people forgotten how to manage the clock? It's funny how that was something that we complained so much about with Mike McCarthy when he was here, but we have seen a lot of it around the league just today without us playing. Just kind of shocking to see. Funny, but shocking.
Agreed it seems which ever coach makes the less stupid coaching decisions ends up with the W.

The result that ultimately matters are the W/L columns.

Schottenheimer is not doing well enough in that area.

Yuppers and let's not act like they don't do it among themselves the players

There are a lot of bad coaches. That's true. I'd say 20 plus coaches are weak

I'd even have to throw in Jim Harbaugh and Sean Payton in with some of the bad calls they made today. But yeah, I think there are about 20 something bad/mediocre coaches from what I've seen. And the quality of the sport just feels less.

I mean, there's that, but that doesn't exactly entirely explain how braindead the coaching appears to be around the NFL lol. Think about it. These are supposed to be the 32 best minds in American Football as they're NFL head coaches.....and just today, there were 7 massive errors, not counting Thursday Night.
I think the poster replying meant that the league may have some elements of point spread management due to Vegas influence. I can believe it.

It makes a lot of sense. Free agency and the salary cap are equalizers, refs are strategically placed to call holding and illegal contact, which seemingly occurs on every play but called at discretion of referees. The zebras are the handicappers. They make sure games don’t get out of hand and the viewers tune in to make the ad revenue go up. Doesn’t the ad revenue ultimately fund the TV contracts that fund the NFL?

Right, but I'm also pointing out that is the case with most coaches, and there's a lot of really dumb decisions of late across the league

yeah I saw that and I thought wth are they doing??
Before that the giants at the 20, should have kicked it then, but ran a running play, ball is knocked out wash gets it!
I hate ties, now one in nfce !
How could that help gambling?
The line was wash -4 and the O/U 42 .
they were over already with 54 points and the people who bet on nyg +4 won with the tie, would have won with giants fg and win, and also with wash fg and win.

So it couldnt help sports books either way lol. So apparently just sheer stupidity on both teams part .
Harbaugh and Quinn should not screw up like that.
