I think we will sign Moore, Clabo or Winston

I think Jerry's strategy so far may actually work out fine. Heard Clabo on Sirius radio yesterday say he's in no rush to sign, it's important to him to play for a Super Bowl contender ( so not Jax or Miami), and wants more than a 1 year deal because he doesn't want to keep moving his kids. I imagine similiar things are going on with Winston (who Broaddus said they have serious interest is) and Moore ( who wants starters money). Bottom line is that all of these guys are likely available until after the draft. If Dallas drafts Cooper or Warmack, they sign Clabo or Winston to compete with Parnell, and cut Free. If they draft Fluker or Watson at RT, they sign Moore to compete with Berny ( not much of a competition). I think this is the plan and it looks good so far.

I think Miami is going to surprise some people this season. They are better than most people acknowledge. Perhaps not yet true contenders ... but closer than many others (Jets, Panthers, KC, Bills, etc. ). I could see them making the playoffs or being close.

what's the consensus on who's the better player of the three?
Moore, Winston, or Clabo?

any chance we can get two?

or Dallas

Dallas had a chance to make the playoffs missing the ENTIRE middle of their defense. They are not that far off.

for the RT's it all comes down to what they see in parnell. no reason to pay big money for a rt if you think parnell can play. people always complain about us developing players but then they want free agents which is counter to developing your players. if the staff thinks parnell can play then he needs to be on the field and learning. it would be a shame to spend all the time on this guy and just let him walk without ever giving him a shot at starting
as for moor i think it depends on what you plan in the draft. if you are going guard early then no reason to sign him. just start the rookie

I think each presents respective advantages. Moore is obviously different because of his position, but he really a solid guard. Clabo is probably better than Winston, but is older.

I would not rule out Miami at all. That team now looks pretty decent on paper.

Miami had a chance to make the playoffs with a rookie QB and no receiving threats. I'm just saying, how are you gonna discount those teams and not ourselves? The Jags, yea, they suck.

I honestly think we go hard after Clabo. If rumors are true and we contacted him already that means we have significant interest

Just doing our homework and kicking the tires.

This is a buyers market for Olineman and Dallas, if they can pull it off, would be best served seeing how the draft plays our before comitting to an older olinelan who wants a longer contract.

I'm not agaisnt getting one of these guys, but I heard yesterday that the interest in Valley Ranch is lower than perceived by the media and public...but there is at least some interest.

I don't, because it is another case of overspending on free agents for a quick fix. It never works.

I personally don't believe Miami will be that great next season either, but it's not difficult to fathom that some FAs may be more intrigued by Miami than Dallas. They overachieved last season, they have a nice core of young players, a young QB who showed positive signs, they're not afraid to spend money this offseason, which shows they're serious about winning now, the list goes on.

This why I hate Jerry sometimes. He's going to try get a couple free agent linemen just like last year, might work doubt it. Instead of drafting some young guys that will probaly be better and cheaper. he cant stand draft lineman! Just not flashy enough for Jerry. The reason they won in the 90's cause they had a good line. Jerry is just to dumb to see that I guess.

On the bright side, these veteran FA O-linemen he's looking at this year are actually proven. Last year we went after the weak link on Cincinnati's line and a backup on Carolina's line.

Jerry (as do most GM's) has always relied heavily on his scouts and using the 90's Cowboys is a bad example. That line was made up mainly of FA's and castoffs.

I've seen Parnell play the LT and RT spots for the Boys and found him lacking. He's probably a good, cheap backup but not starter material...At least yet IMVHO. Gotta fix that line this year if you want to get any return at all on that massive contract given to the 33yr old.

It can be frustrating, no doubt.

It probably doesn't hurt right now that when he finally did take a lineman early in the 1st round recently, any re-draft would have him NOT making that pick but instead taking JJ Watt.

In fact, NFL.com currently has a 2011 re-draft, and of course they have Dallas taking Watt. They have Smith not being taken until the 22nd pick.

I still think Smith will end up being very good. But just saying that Jerry may still be licking his wounds over missing ut ona game changer (and NFL defesnive player of the year) Watt.

This seems like it might be the plan. Hopefully, everyone we're interested in is still available after the draft. It's possible. Signings have really cooled off to the point where they're hardly happening these days. I'm sure teams are in full-on draft mode and will jump on the top FAs after the draft to fill the holes that they didn't fill during the draft. Give me one top OL in the draft and one of the FAs we keep talking about and I think this line will be solid next season. If we can stay healthy and actually create a few turnovers on defense we will be contenders IMO.
