I Thought Zimmer was suppose to Make Our Defense Better?

Odd...that a man with success and longevity in the league based on his defenses...can have a defense look this unqualified.

There is something else going here.

Injuries and personnel are not excuses that I feel qualify here.

I think a tank is the main objective at hand.

The game has passed him.

1. No one in the NFL thinks Zimmer is better than Dan Quinn. Every offseason, the Cowboys fan base blames someone that has left and sells hope for a new hire. See Garrett, Kellen Moore, MM next year…

2. We’re missing our top 4 pass rushers. I don’t think any coordinator can make things work under those circumstances.

It mattered the last few years with Quinn. He got a heck of a lot more out of these guys than fake coach Zimmer.
After the Green Bay game last year some were calling out DQ. Quinn is a really good coach. Zimmer isn't a bad coach. My point is they need personal.

It is hard for me to blame Zimmer although I do think some of the problems are his making. But missing our 4 top DEs and an all-pro CB makes it hard to assess what the problems are. The pass rush is non-existent which makes it easy for QBs to find open receivers and whoever the Cowboys have trotted out in Bland's place has gotten picked on. I thought they played much more aggressively last night but they just do not have the horses up front. Our DL is just bad. It seems like every team we play gets production out of their DTs but we can't find one DT to be even the tiniest bit disruptive.

But look at turnovers. Dallas is 30th in turnover differential at -8. They have 4 INTs in 7 games and 1 fumble recovery. 2 of those INTs came against Cleveland game 1. They have not had an INT since week 4. They have not had a take-away in their last 2 games. It is hard to believe two teams are worse than Dallas but The Raiders and Titans are -13. I suspect some of this is due to Bland missing and the lack of a pass rush. Also, the fact that the offense can't get leads.

4 of the 5 Cowboys take-aways have come in their 3 wins, which means they have 1 takeaway in their 4 losses. That came in their week 2 loss to the Saints, which seems like ancient history already.

Again, with all the injuries on defense it is possible that's why they are not getting turnovers. They have only 2 take-aways since Parsons, Kneeland and Lawrence went down - 1 INT and 1 fumble recovery.

Is this Zimmer's fault? I think probably.

Meh. Neither is all that well regarded.

Zimmer is not the solution, and not sure who could be at this point. That said, last years 49'ers game was worse with a
42-10 final despite Parsons, Lawrence, Fowler, Armstrong, Hankins, Bland, Gilmore, and LVE, all playing. The Cowboys had 1 sack by Kearse and forced zero turnovers in the game, and Kittle the Cowboy killer had 3 TD's,

It was going to be difficult to overcome a terrible offseason...with injuries to Williams, Bland, Lawrence, and Parsons, making it pretty much impossible.

Agree

But have wonder why SS Wilson gets the # of snaps he does.
Is a liabilty in coverage (kittle abused him), and dont see him dropping the hammer in the run game as 2,3 yrs ago...

Got Bell, Issy, thomas... its time to insert them depending on down & distance

Completely different players. How do you guys miss this? The loss of Hankins and Gallimore is huge.

How many points a game our we giving up now? Zimmer is not the solution. I never wanted him back in the first place.

Please refer some names to replace him.
How was it supposed to be better again?

Who did we add to the defense?

Do we have a harder schedule this year?

Have we had more injuries this year?

What are you smoking!!!

Dan Quinn turnover causing defense is much missed. We’ll soon be getting stomped by his new team

Zimmer was ok in his last stint as defensive coordinator but his defense never got turnovers.
That's exactly what we have right now, no turnovers.

What?????? Almost 500 yards of offense. 33+ minutes of possession. 223 yards rushing. 8/16 on third downs. Most of this in the middle of the game. The defense absolutely sucked last night.
They gave the offense an opportunity at the end with a bunch of practice squad guys. Blame the offense for the poor 2 min offense
