"Zack Martin gets you 8-8." - Jerry Jones

Jerry's letting Will McClay and company make the calls now. He almost seemed embarrassed to get that award yesterday because he knows they had to lock him in the liquor closet during most of the offseason to save him from himself.

After that SI article last summer, I can't believe he won that award.

This morning I realized just how great his decisions have been since 2010ish as a GM. Really, he has made very few mistakes relative to the AVG GM. On draft day we have been a top 3 team in the league.

In Jerry we trust.

I trust that if he listens to guys like McCray and coaching staff that we have a very good chances of adding to key parts to this team.

Let's hope this turns out better than when you trusted Miles Austin.

I stand by my statements that Austin could have been a special player in the league if he was able to get over his injuries.. He played the game very intelligently, he made small adjustments and tweaks to routes that only the all-time greats did. He had perhaps some of the best raw receiver instincts I have ever witnessed...... Unfortunately, he couldn't pull it all together.

Whenever anyone cites Austin I point back to the time when Nnamdi Asomugha allowed 1 td and 250 yards in a season, with ~150 of those yards and the touchdown coming from Miles Austin... When he was healthy, he was performing like a top 5 WR in the league.

I personally don't care if he gets credit or doesn't so long as the front office continues getting the right players via FA and the draft. I will say this: Even if you think the good personnel acquisitions of the recent past should be credited to McClay, Garrett, Stephen, or whomever, you still have to give ol' Jerry credit for letting them do their jobs and then actually listening to them.

I agree after all Jerry has the final word, if McCray convinces Jerry to draft a player and that player fails that falls to Jerry since he makes the final call. Same with successful selections or FA pickups

Yeah, McClay has been a draft guru these past few years.... but you know what? Jerry is still taking his advice and running with it. That is what great executives do... they surround themselves with people smarter than they are at particular topics to advise them, and the great executives run with the advisors suggestions. That is what Jerry has been doing these past few years. Has he been a great GM? That is arguable. Has he been a great executive? Absolutely, and I trust that it will continue

Yes, sir. He's the Captain of the ship and he is ultimately accountable.

Only differences in the three 8-8 seasons and this 12-4 season...

Garrett was stripped of Playcalling duties
And
We dedicated to the run

Give jerrry credit for divvying up the duties of coaches and coordinators.

What started to click for him in 2010 in terms of his decision making? Guess old dogs can learn new tricks?

Even Jerome Bettis gave Jerry his due, citing that once you peel back the layers of the onion, you can see that his "final sign off" allowed the Cowboys to be successful in concordance with the coaching staff. The man deserves praise, like it or not.

Past few years?

Will McClay oversaw the 2014 draft board. No draft before that. Before him, it was Tom Ciskowski overseeing the board.

Jones makes the decisions.
