I'd rather get a guard or wide receiver. Ferguson and Hendershot is a good enough tandem but I don't trust anyone on the roster to be wr3 or starting LG.

I don't want to draft a TE based on his blocking ability. For some reason, I like the idea of the 5 guys who's sole purpose is to block to be able to do it efficiently enough to not need a blocking TE.

Does blocking ability help? Sure, but I'm not looking for a TE who can be the 6th OL. I want a TE who can catch the ball and be just good enough to get in the way when called upon. If Dallas is going to go for a TE, they better get one who's best attributes are catching the ball and moving the sticks.

It all depends on our scheme..MM wants to run the ball, we need a TE that can block

I’d like a playmaker…since we lost in the playoffs due to offense plus our RB corps is super thin as is our WR and TE corps.
I want a G too but we need some guys who can get it to the end zone

If people think that RB has poor positional value, I just don't get it with TE.

Incoming: Kelce!

OK, let's talk about that. IMO, no position benefits more from a QB than TE. Some people talk like Kyle Pitts is a disappointment. IMO, if Kelce was on Atlanta and Pitts in KC, people would be talking about Pitts as the GOAT. Don't get me wrong, Kelce is certainly a very good player but the fact that he plays with a QB who frequently escapes pressure and finds him really pumps up his impact.

When you watch the "highlights" of guys like Mayer, they really aren't creating offense as much as they are being the recipients of it. There are a fair number of people out there that can do some blocking and go out 5 yards and turn right. That's oversimplified but TE's rarely live at the edge of human athleticism like WR's. Like RB's, these type of players are frequently available and with rare exception, the marginal utility of one over the other isn't significant.

IMO, Dallas still has needs at RB, LB, G and maybe WR. All of them can provide more positional value than upgrading from Ferguson to La Porta.

Need to fix the trenches. I’d like to grab oline, lb, cb+rb late. Ferguson and hndershot + mckeon is good enough

TE moves the chains. That’s why they are so important. TE passes are generally high comp rare passes. And we target the TE over 100 times a year. Last year 121 targets.

Schultz and Ferguson were drafted in the 4th round .......
And that doesn’t mean a thing. Lots of 4th rnd TE never do much. That’s like saying you don’t take a QB till late because Brady was a late pick
