I like Delpit and would definitely draft him.

Tackling is an issue i'll admit but I think that is something he can get better at.
He has amazing range. He reminds me of Hooker for the Colts.

I don’t think Grant Delpit is overrated, I just think the effect his shoulder injury is having is being underrepresented.

We don’t need speculation at #17. Thats a Jerry pick in the second. Not before.

I’d argue Byron Jones, Taco Charlton and LVE were pretty speculative if not more so than Delpit. These guys showed flashes and had traits rather than consistent performances over a long period of time.

This. It reminds me of Gerod Holliman from a few years back. He led the nation with like 10 picks but if you watch his tape he had zero interest in tackling. I argued with a couple people on this board that Safeties who can’t tackle are liabilities more than assets even if they make plays on the ball. He ended up being drafted in the 7th round and is out of the league now.

Now Delpit is no where near as atrocious at tackling as Holliman was and the willingness to tackle is there but they don’t teach you how to tackle in the NFL like you said.

Maybe his injuries were more of a factor than he let on because his 2018 tape is better but it’s is still worrisome.

Bingo.

I argued as well that Holliman was a huge liability due to his tackling and average athleticism.

That said, the difference between Delpit and Holliman is that Delpit at least puts in the effort, but he’s just bad at it. Whereas Holliman had no heart at all.

I want the Cowboys to stay away from Delpit.
