If you are supporting Zekes return you have no right to bash Jerry Jones. You’ve fallen in love with a player beyond their functional utility, just like Jerry does. If Zeke was worth it, someone else would have picked him up by now.

As a starter his yds/game have gone from meh to absolutely pathetic over the last 3 years. He’s falling down as he hits the hole like Marion Barber after he lost his juice. He’s done guys. I’m sorry. I loved watching him. My favorite season the last 10 years was his rookie year, but he’s done.

I want to pay him $10m on a 2 year deal for him to be a third down and short yardage back.

You're right. He certainly should not be getting 20 carries a game anymore. That does not mean he could not contribute. It would be an absolute trip to see him out on special teams.

He could always play center if necessary!

Limit him to 10 carries a game and I think he can be effective. It's a common running back role. I don't get the hyperbole. Maybe make it caps for effect or something?

I would add that it is also a role that MM used in Greenbay with Lacey and that corps. Even when he featured McCallister back in the day he still platooned.

I agree. You use Zeke in the passing game more. That's a staple of the West Coast anyway. Flares, flats, and the like; get him in space like Roger Craig and Tim Rathman and see what happens.

And what did all that contribute to in the Cowboys win over San Fran in January?

Exactly.
I think the fact that Zeke was so beloved by teamates and coaches was a huge problem. They HAD to play him. HAD to give him what he wanted as far as lead role and carries.

This was the big problem. He needed to go simply because he had a hold on playing time clearly no longer deserved.

Zeke in the passing game? LOL

See what happens? So you havent been watching obviously?

He has trouble catching the ball now and when he does catch it he cant make anyone miss.

And when you have Pollard and now Deuce is laughable. Zeke in space is a disaster. First guy gets him down.

Blows my mind that people like a player that is not only hurting the team on the field but is hurting them off the field and is way overpaid. And you have a guy like Pollard that is killing it. And its obvious he is the better back. And these guys like the player so much that they actually dont like the guy that is killing it.

I will NEVER understand that kind of laughable fandom or logic.

Zeke was killing this team in multiple ways.

If I may add, the cowboys would be a Pollard injury away from rolling with Zeke, Ronald Jones, Malik Davis and Deuce Vaughn
Yah, either way we are way better off than with Zeke here. At least when Pollard is healthy, he will get most of the carries. And if Pollard does get injured any of those backs are going to produce better than the hapless Zeke.

Give me Jones and Deuce all day over Zeke only.

Anyone who thinks Zeke “ still has a lot of value” has delusions. Go invest in Silicon Valley Bank.

Nobody said if Zeke does not come back we'll leave fandom. Read Troys quote about how Zeke is the glue.
(I thought Ignored Member was a member's name. Found out by your post Ignored Member is the guy who don't want Zeke back because he promised to leave the board if Zeke comes back.)
Not that I'll unblock him, but to answer the receiving question Zeke caught 17 of 23 passes (73%) for 92 yards, average 5.5 per catch. That's par for the West Coast.

No harm in wanting something, just as there is no harm in not wanting something.

Some would say you need a running back capable of pass protecting, running short yardage, and possessing veteran experience. I don’t know though, seems pretty insane.

Dallas is a Tony Pollard injury away from rolling with Ronald Jones, Malik Davis, and Deuce Vaughn at RB.

2 of those 3 are unknown commodities and the other couldn’t even get on the field in a middling KC RB rotation last season.
But those three give a varied approach than Zeke's north-south abilities. Do you think that's why we drafted a blocking TE, because we are moving away from a (now) pedestrian Zeke and looking to scheme up holes for one of those three to utilize.

Our main problem under KM was that we were predictable (this explained on Talkin Cowboys yesterday) we telegraphed the run and if it was to Zeke teams knew his limitations.

Its easier to get one of the RB's to pass-pro than get Zeke to get back speed. He possibly had the chance to take the pay cut and take FB money, but as is his right he refused....problem now is that there was no where back once he chose.....because we'd be paying him twice, if we bring him back.

To me, it ain't what he can and can't do for the team. It's a matter of what's best for his health longterm. His body has been breaking down over the last few years. How much more punishment can he endure before the damage is permanent? Ride off into the sunset so you can walk freely in your golden years. Don't end up crippled like Earl Campbell.
