I was wrong about Cooper Rush

This doesn’t mean I think Dak is a good quarterback because I don’t think he is!! However as a man I can admit when I was wrong and I’ll happily eat my crow. I think I desperately wanted a savior so I latched to whoever was next on the depth chart, so I was hoping for a miracle with Cooper Rush.

This just means one thing. Our QB1 and QB2 both stink and our team is running out of answers. Starting Trey Lance might be our only option left and even he probably sucks too!
Eat your crow, but you don't have to enjoy it.

Cooper and Dak are exactly how they have played this year. They both are slow and not athletic. They both have below average NFL arms. They both have trouble reading the defense. They both have issues protecting the ball. Coopers contract tells us how good he is and how he’s thought of. Daks on the other hand does not. Dak is paid to produce at the level of an elite QB. He’s paid enough to be thought of as someone who can win regardless of how good the team is. He’s failing miserably at even being average.

Yeah ok, I guess every single nfl executive is wrong about Dak and how he's been rated his entire career. There may be one or two qbs in the league who could ink out wins with this garbage roster construct. You're the same type that will say Jerry sucks, Dak sucks and the coaches suck, but then have zero explanation for how they won 36 games the last 3 years and had a top ranked offense. It's so stupid.

There's a difference between being good and great. Players aren't evaluated on a scale of suck or awesome. Yall don't always have to speak in hyperbole.

Arm strength, dude.

Cooper Rush does not possess an NFL caliber arm. Nothing else matters.

Didn't I tell you this before?

Yes, Lamb couldn't see that pass. But as Romo pointed out a few times, Rush missed open guys instead just dumping it off quickly. He also missed some easy throw down the field. Lamb had Mitchell beat and all it required was a decent back shoulder throw. Rush underthrew the ball. He missed another play were Lamb was wide open and he just threw into no man's land.

Rush stunk yesterday, which should surprise no one. He's not a very good QB and is a backup for a reason.
A backup that has been a FA several times w/ zero offers from any other team. To repeat, ZERO. If not for Jerry, Rush would not have lasted 2 years in the NFL. However, our beloved GM being horrifically horrific at player evaluations means this shouldn't surprise anyone. Nashon Wright anyone?

Cooper is facing the same thing Dak faced. Our line can't hold up for more then 2 seconds. We are flat out awful. Both our tackles can't handle speed nor quickness. Cooper doesn't want to get killed out there so he took check downs 90 percent of the time. Heck Romo and Nantz both saw it. More then once CeeDee was open, but the ball was already on its way to the check down. This is the worst team we have in a long time.

If Rush would have played in garbage time , his stats would have been way better .

I hope you're only stating this as pertains to Rush because when evaluating an actual NFL QB a lot of other things matter. There is however precious little that can be done to overcome the lack of at least a serviceable NFL arm. QBs with higher football IQ and acumen than Cooper Rush have flamed out or never even gotten out of the starting blocks because of it. Remember Peyton Manning in Denver though? His arm might not have even been as strong as what Rush is working with and he still managed the steer the team to a title. Largely on the strength of that hellacious defense but still. He got it done. Same with late career Drew Brews and Boomer Esiason before him. There were all QB's whose arms fell off for one reason or another (usually shoulder or elbow surgery) but they still had enough to win a few games.

I don't know what bringing Romo into the conversation has anything to do with what happened last night.

Romo>>>>>>>>>>>>>Rush
Romo was the last time it happened when the Cowboys had 5 or more turnovers and won, and 5 and lost.

Nobody (I hope) is comparing Romo to Rush.

Just saying no matter how bad things were last night it wasn't all on Rush. In the history of the Cowboys there had been 4 games where the team had 5 or more TOs and less than 150 yards offense.

With 5 turnovers a team only has 1 in 6 chance of winning.

Turnovers killed us.

I doubt it.. Once the score got out of hand and the d-line could pin its ears back they would have set an NFL record for sacking him.
its doubtful but not impossible , as soon as we entered garbage time they called in Lance .

Rush didnt get the chance to pad his stats .

Rush got in at garbage time last week after Dak got hurt and put up a pathetic statline. He had more pass attempts than Dak, 28 to 25 but had fewer completions (13 to 18) and fewer yards 115 to 133. Still the Cowboys were down two scores when Rush went in and the Falcons defense can in no way be confused with the Eagles. Their ranks are in the 20's while the Eagles are in the top 5 range. Like I said I was neither surprised nor disappointed at what Rush put out there against that defense with the offense in this compromised state. I was hoping for a miracle.. but I had no expectation of a win. And it has been a very long time since I thought that about my team.

If it wasn’t for Prescott, for the last five seasons, we would be in the same wreck. He is the only thing good about this offense. If you didn’t realize it yesterday, you just don’t understand what’s happening just like everybody else. The masses are usually always wrong.
