How long are you planning to hold on to that dream?

Maybe this is just me guessing here and all but I'd venture to say until after the draft is over.

Get used to disappointment

LOL! Excellent.

I, personally, would love for Shipley to be a Cowboy cause I'm a big fan of him. I don't think, however, he should be drafted ahead of other much more glaring needs. Now if the guy fell down far enough where we could still him, or he was the BPA at that time, then I wouldn't be upset in the least.

I doubt, very seriously, he'll be a Cowboy.

He won't be and for exactly the reason you stated, glaring needs.

There are 31 other teams drafting too, so unless you expect the Cowboys to be fools and burn a 1st rounder, Shipley's destination is completely unknown.

Are you saying if he is there in the second, that Dallas should go for it ?

Even if he is, they won't. I wouldn't be shocked if they passed on him in the 3rd. They are not focusing on WR in their prime draft rounds.

We need a KR/PR

In the 2nd round Shipley is a bargain, I wouldn't take him in the 1st though

That's an awfully big assumption to assume that he is an NFL playoff team level starting WR, KR, and PR. Is anyone in the league doing that right now?

correction, he would be decent value in the late 2nd. A bargain in the late 3rd.

He will be a better bargain in the 4th and he will be available then.

He looks to be several inches shorter than Colt McCoy and Colt is listed at 6'-2". I seriously doubt Colt is a full 6'-2".

I think looking at what school a player attended does matter. I just would never use that as the sole reason to draft or not draft the player.

You can see a ton of difference in Jordan Shipley and Roy Williams even though both went to the same school and had the same head coach and offensive coordinator. Roy had so much natural talent that he did not have to work that hard in college. Shipley had to overcome a few major injuries during college, so he had to learn a good work ethic right from the beginning. He would probably be a different player had he not been injured. Even though Gregg Davis was the OC for both guys they really played in different systems because of the different QBs they had at the time.

It is not like the Steve Spurrier Florida Gator receivers. They were all the same size and ran the exact same system and all of their QBs were the similar. If you changed names and numbers on the uniforms, you would not know which guy was playing and what year under Spurrier it was. You can see differences between Roy and Jordan. Both good and bad.

I would not mind at all if Dallas picked Shipley up in the 4th round. I don't see him making an immediate impact, but he could develop well to replace Crayton in the slot and as a returner in a year or two. Crayton is 30 years old.

Good guess, but Harvin was not a punt returner this season. Who knows, maybe in the future? But he did share the kick return duties and may have even led the team in that category

He had a nice rookie year, nevertheless.

One key thing to note, is that good WRs can almost always be had in later rounds. Still, last year 5 of the top 7 WRs--but that means two flopped--did pretty well. The superstars still do usually go in rounds 1-3. But you could have gotten guys that did almost as well at pick 107 (Mike Thomas), pick 127 (Austin Collie) and pick 140 (Johnny Knox)...even much later Brandon Gibson and Sammie Stroughter look like they could be players.

I can't think of anyone whos a starting wr,kr, and pr so what makes you think Shipley would be that guy especially in his 1st year? He's projected to go in rounds 2-3 or so how does him at the end of the 2nd a bargain? Perhaps at he end of the 3rd or 4th, not 2nd.

Dear lord, I realize that 12 year olds are very excitable but it is now clear I should never ever click on a thread you start.

im pretty sure that makes no sense what-so-ever.

What doesn't make sense?

When Parcells and Ireland were here, they made comments about avoiding schools with a country club atmosphere. They didn't think players that played at those types of schools transitioned to the NFL well.

They never drafted a player from Texas in their time here and haven't drafted one in Miami either.

Did they draft any from Florida, Ohio State, USC, etc...because they are all similar to UT?
