Garrett said this offseason that the oline had to change their run blocking schemes to work with DMC, thats why I dont believe we will see him again

thanks for that insight. To me the coaches will put in the best back at the moment to keep them fresh, and keep the chains moving. Zeke is really showing that the decision to release Murray, even though years ago, and select him was a great one.

I for one am surprised when he hits the hole. Looks like he's stopped and still get 2-3-4 more yards. He really gets low going forward on those plays... That and his top end speed are a joy to watch...

I agree with the OP. I'd like for DMAC to replace Dunbar on the active list since he's a god WR and better blocker than Dunbar. Then DMAC could be worked in with a chance to earn more carried.
Dunbar is actually a very good blocker. He had a key block on 3rd down late in the game.

I hope we can grab one of Cook, Fournette, Foreman or McCaffery next year in the draft. Having another tough back come in when Elliott needs a break would be amazing.

1) Zeke is going to make every other RB look bad in comparison. We're being spoiled.
2) I don't want to see McFadden at all.

1) agree
2) you don't want to see the team improve even more?

Morris has been fantastic? He's been solid but he's looked sluggish the last couple of games. I wouldn't mind seeing McFadden. Especially if we're talking about 6 or 7 carries a game. At least he adds the threat of breaking some long runs. Morris isn't terrible but Zeke is so good that the drop off to Morris looks huge.

I do not think JG really said this...link?
It was a guy from a blog that said this. No one from the team ever said this.
Matter of fact they said they used both schemes for RB's depending on the situation. And the OL said they loved blocking for DMC.

People need to stop this crap.

If you simply google Darren McFadden and zone blocking scheme nothing will come up but articles showing how bad he has been in that scheme.

"But, the point remains, the Cowboys were playing without a QB and a threatening WR and were now trying to change their scheme to use the only competent RB they had left. That is why they tried to run through a couple other zone runners in Christine Michael and Robert Turbin during the year, too. It was a mess."

"Because of McFadden's struggles in the zone-blocking scheme, the Cowboys used more of a man-blocking scheme to tailor their offense to McFadden's strengths."

It really was not a well kept secret unless you didn't want to know about it.

I have no problem keeping him but he simply was not effective last year until they switched schemes after Randle left. And he just wasn't anymore effective in a ZBS last year than Morris has been thus far (unfortunately). Having to switch schemes for a game or a season is one thing, but having to do it from series to series is quite another.

Here were his YPC in games where Randle was the lead back and the team was using primarily a ZBS... 2.7, 3.1, 5.8, 3.1, 3.2... 37 carries, 129 yards (3.4 ypc). Morris this year... 57 carries, 205 yards (3.6 ypc).

I believe it started with one article and it took off like wildfire...however, the team did not start this...and all he did was get that 1089 without a QB and without a #1 WR.
But hey, if people want to knock themselves out about it, let them. It's Zekes job long term, and DMC will be out one way or another. He is a FA after this year.
But I will bet we will get the useless threads of glee when he is a FA or is released.
So be it. Fans need something and someone to hate as usual.

I'm kinda torn on this. I've been watching Morris, and wondering where that explosiveness went that he showed earlier in the year.

One thing I like about him though, is he NEVER fumbles, and ball security is huge. Also, he's a zone RB, and fits this scheme well.

I'm with the OP I don't understand the hate for Run DMC, he finished what 4th in the NFL last year in yards i believe. Morris has shown very little. McFadden is the better rb than Morris.
I think Morris has lost his urgency..

Zeke has surpassed all expectations and Morris has little future in Dallas.

When he was signed..he was supposed to battle DMac for carries.

Ain't going to happen now.

i'd take dmc or jackson over dunbar.
yeah, morris has not been all that good recently, and dunbar is not that good for actually running thru the line,
so dmc or jackson should be given a try.

one thing though is morris hasnt fumbled, and has caught the passes, and I guess blocked good.

But mcf might be better, but then again hasnt played all year, so maybe better to stick with morris.
