I would like to see Darren McFadden over Morris

I believe it started with one article and it took off like wildfire...however, the team did not start this...and all he did was get that 1089 without a QB and without a #1 WR.
But hey, if people want to knock themselves out about it, let them. It's Zekes job long term, and DMC will be out one way or another. He is a FA after this year.
But I will bet we will get the useless threads of glee when he is a FA or is released.
So be it. Fans need something and someone to hate as usual.

Elliott has almost matched that total in only half a season and he has done so with rook QB, injured OL and only a handful of games with Dez.

And FYI, do not hate DMC. Prefer him over Dunbar.

I do not think JG really said this...link?
It was a guy from a blog that said this. No one from the team ever said this.
Matter of fact they said they used both schemes for RB's depending on the situation. And the OL said they loved blocking for DMC.

People need to stop this crap.
Calm down Darren, lol

You know things are going well when all we have to argue about is backup RB and backup QB.

Jackson can't see a hole if it hit him in the face. A stiff breeze, Dumber (spelled correctly) is down for a 10 count. Morris will get you 3 yards, but at least he is durable enough to get that for a whole game if you want him to do that.

We got lucky DMac gave us what he did last year. What is ignored, in a backup role, he is rather good. Give him a shot, just make sure he gets an otterbox for that phone.

Has Darren even been participating in practice?

He certainly had his moments last year, but his time to contribute here may have passed already.

We have the same OL as the one that blocked for DMC last year. They don't need to learn a different blocking scheme - they already know it.

I know Morris is a chunky back, but he looks a bit too flabby and seems to lack burst. Is he doing enough in the strength and conditioning area?

Just more proof to those who think the OL makes the back, that the back matters.

I think Morris is good but he is not good in a role that doesn't have him carrying the ball a lot.

I agree with that, he's a rhythm back who needs carries. He never came off the field his rookie year in Washington. The more carries the better he gets but the back still matters regardless how good an OL is and only a great back would be doing what Zeke has done.

I hope we can grab one of Cook, Fournette, Foreman or McCaffery next year in the draft. Having another tough back come in when Elliott needs a break would be amazing.

Why the hell would you waste a high pick on a backup running back?

I wouldn't mind seeing Darius Jackson get a few carries in relief. He looked pretty good in preseason and has some speed.

Alf is fine........DMC can rot on the NFI all year if Jerry wants pay him for being very average for a 4-12 team....waste of money and cap space if you ask me for our 5th best RB

I just don't think Alfred Morris is a good RB with limited touches. I feel confident he would be better than McFadden if he had to carry the load but I don't think he is very good unless he gets a big bulk of carries.

He's a better goal line threat than D-Mac but I like McFadden much better between the 20's and for a series if we have to spell Zeke because of his explosive capabilities.
I dont want the line switching back and forth between zone blocking and not zone blocking on every other drive. BAD IDEA.

It's not a big deal at all to use both schemes. Especially when you have guys who have already done it before.

Do you still think Demarco Murray is better than Zeke?

No. And I've mentioned that on numerous occasions on this board over the past 6 weeks.

But, it's also not a blowout.

Murray is average 4.9 yards per carry this year.

I think it's a long shot to predict that a rookie will come in and perform better than a player that averaged 5.1 yards per carry in his career and set a franchise rushing record.

But, it has happened. Hooray for us.

Well this is the biggest problem with bringing DMac back.

But you do have to realize he wouldn't be a starter, as a 3rd down back we wouldn't have to change our blocking. Noone has said get rid of Morris, who would be the main backup.
