I would rather play the Patriots or Steelers Sunday

Nothing but remember the teams we have been playing in pre-season have also been vanilla. Teams now are game planning looking to exploit weakness and offense start becoming more diverse

Would you consider the Steeler's offense anything more than a vanilla offense? :)

I can speak to the nervousness right before kickoff. It's the stomach in knots feeling that just won't release until the game is well in hand. It's only the cowboys that do this to me. I'm a Mavericks, Rangers and University of Hawaii fan, but they dont create that unique feeling when the Cowboys play.

It can be at times.

Other than the deep ball and screens, I don't see how their offense is anything special? (referring to the Steeler's offense)

My main point is that it was effective, ESPECIALLY, when it counted the most. (i.e. the last drive of the Super Bowl)

Until we find some consistency and spread the ball around, we won't see a post season.

I have seen them run reverses and flee flickers even last year. Yes they have a base offense they will play as will Dallas. I don't necessary call that running a vanilla offense. I think the difference is teams go into the game with a clear game plan vs an opponent and while changes may be subtle there are differences in how they game plan vs Tenn than they would Balt. In pre season the play you run are more about seeing your own players more than it is looking to find an edge on the team you are playing

As for Dallas I agree we need consistency in our offense heck when you ranked at the bottom in rushing attempts that should be a good indicator that maybe we are not balanced enough which I do expect that to change this season.

So the OP would rather face just about a guaranteed loss by more than double digits against the Steelers and Pats than a game against the Bucs?:laugh2: I have a lot of doubts about this team but still i expect us to crush the Bucs by 20 plus if not we are in for a long season.

Maybe it was more effective for the Steelers to run those "trick plays" when they run their base offense a little more often than we did.

The deep bombs to Terrell Owens to try to catch the defense offgaurd got very detectable and it showed later in the year. I certainly hope we establish more of a running game this year having two great tight ends on both sides of the ball and three superb running backs. If only our OL holds up.:

Dallas did not run a lot of trick plays, we passed quite a bit and like you I would like to see us become more balanced and feel we will see Dallas look to be more balance.

I'll admit, this first game has me nervous as all get up.

Playing a team with a new coach, just fired OC, 4 QB's which equal none, a make shift defense and no real weapons to speak of.

I team we should handle easily. Kitna should be taking snaps in the 4th quarter.

It never works that way with Dallas. A loss to TB in week 1 would be disaster and the more I hear that there is no way we can lose the more I fear it.

I just want to get week 1 over with, come out healthy, with a win and watch this team go to war with the contenders!

A loss would mean

Cowboys 1st story on ESPN First Take
Cowboys 1st story on Around the Horn
Cowboys 1st story on PTI
Cowboys 1st story on 6pm SportsCenter
Cowboys 1st story on MN Countdown

So please whatever you do Tony Romo don't play a role in helping the Cowboys lose this game.
