Anyone remember when Frederick pulled a prank on Martin, after he got drafted, on him on the Ben & Skin show (2014)? I wish I could find an active audio file for it, but the links are dead.
Anyway, Martin agreed to make an appearance with Frederick to a kid's bar mitzvah for $25,000 each. Then the prank caller (acting as the kid's dad) kept asking for weird things like he and Fred jumping out of a cake and other silly things. At the end the Father said he'd pay Frederick $25K and Martin $5K (because he's not a known Cowboy). Martin scoffed and said no. Then the prankster bumped it to $12.5K. Martin scoffed again. I know people are going to roll their eyes about this, but the way Martin acted about it as a guy who hadn't even started a game was something that stuck with me since that day. You really had to listen to that audio.
"He's about principle" is probably what someone would say. Well, whatever that "principle" is, it surely played a part in a deal NOT working out last offseason. When the hell has Dallas ever been unable to extend a player they really, really want? If there's no deal this offseason, then that means he's asking for the moon.
