I would trade Zack Martin for a 1st and 2nd

Name one team aside from us that has three players being paid in the top 5 of their respective positions on the line.

And then find one that has a fourth in the top 10 and about to be number 1.

And then find a team that has all of that and still does not have a starting guard on the other side.

Even teams that do spend as much as us have it spread out over 11/12/13 players.

We are so top heavy on the line that it will cripple us.

What cripples the Cowboys is hanging on to players that are not producing anymore yet use up 16.5 mil of the cap. Again wait a couple of years and see how many teams have better improved lines to be the Cowboys of 2016. Teams saw how much the entire offense is improved. Not just the passing game but the running game too.

Zack is one of my fave Cowboys but....he's playing hardball and will want a ridiculous contract.

We cant have all our cap dollars tied up in linemen, I wouldn' sign him anyway for the contract he wants so why not throw some trade bait out there

Here's a little something many that have these big salary scenarios seem to forget about. When they make these scenarios with small base salaries they often forget that those base salaries have to be at least league minimum. Then there's the part they overlook that the player than has to accept these contracts and be good with be known to have a base of league minimum. The people with their scenarios seem to forget that the players have to agree to these contracts and if they were agreeable to them they would be done by now.

A player will accept a minimum base when it comes with a signing bonus. Whether 15 million in salary or league minimum with a 15 million dollar bonus, they’re getting the same cash flow. Structure is just accounting.

This is even moreso in states like Texas with no state income tax. Bonus money is taxed by domicile (permanent residence). Salary money is subject to tax in the state it is earned, so depending on the schedule, half a player’s salary could be subject to state and local taxes around the league. This is a big advantage for Dallas, should they actually use it in negotiation (And the player be a Texas resident, of course.)

Chandler Jones was an off-field trade and Jamie Collins doesn't belong in the same conversation as Jones, nevermind Martin. Bill was going to re-sign Jones until his drugged out run in with the Foxborough Police. I'm from Ma and live 40 minutes from Gilette. Chandler Jones was not a football decision and doesn't reflect the argument.

How so? The discussion is the supposed willingness of Bill Belichick to trade all-pro caliber players in their primes. Jamie Collins is not an all-pro caliber player. Chandler Jones was traded for non-football related reasons. Not sure what your confusion is?

Also, I don't think Paul Alexander would have come here to rebuild. I would think our Oline was a motivating factor for his move. It is a huge upgrade for him.

I agree with not hanging on to highly paid players not producing up to what they are getting paid. But that is a whole different topic.

Ask Minnesota how much they are paying. And they did it with a journeyman QB that they didn't resign and their best RB out.

They also have superior coaching. Not that most fans here would acknowledge that because they were laughing at him when we had him here. Those same fans that just know they know how to fix everything.

I do agree you can be handcuffed at one position. We are trying to build some big time OL and are going to have too much tied into it money wise. Not wise. You don't need an All pro at every OL position to be effective.

Hasn't necessarily been true for our team's Oline, given the uncertainty at the 'skill' positions.

Leary was more that good...I think Hernandez would be a great guard for us and moving Collins back to guard would solve that problem. Fleming looks pretty handy to me...Certainly better than Free.

If Fleming is even equal to Free, we don't have an OL problem anymore.
