On the NFL Network, Ian Rappoport just reported that Chicago might be willing to part with last years 2nd round pick, Tevin Jenkins, out of Oklahoma State.

He was drafted as a right tackle and is a very aggressive, mean player. I liked him because of his attitude but haven’t paid attention to him since he went to Chicago.

Apparently he’s not a great fit there because Rappoport said there is a chance that he’s outright released. That is news to me because he was a pretty highly rated prospect.

He’s interesting to me because he plays so strong and mean… and apparently the team has been looking for that toughness this whole offseason. However, I have zero knowledge of how he’s played at Chicago.

He definitely isn’t a LT, I don’t think, but he can play RT, possibly moving Steele to LT.

If they may be willing to release him, the cost shouldn’t be high and his toughness might interest the Cowboys.

Has anyone paid attention to him in Chicago? I know little of him since he was drafted last season.

If he's only projected as a RT, I'd rather just keep Steele. It would be nice if Steele can become our Doug Free - not a superstar, but a solid RT who isn't a liability. We really need a LT, for the present and future. If we drafted Tyler to be a LG, then we need someone to start at LT while Tyron is out. If we drafted Tyler to be the eventual LT, then we need someone at LG to compete with McGovern. And I'm still not sold on Biadasz either. Basically what I'm saying is, RT is the last position I'd try to upgrade right now.

In case someone hasn’t seen it in this thread… apparently Jenkins has been having a lot of back problems… which makes this a no go.

You don’t want an OL with a bad back.

Anything that involves moving Steele to LT ISNT resolving the problem. We need a veteran FA or possibly trade for a team with a number of LT's (EG - Jags)

Yeah, but they’re not going to do either.

Then the Jones' were true to their word...and we have a losing season. They may well try the cheap route, but when it comes down to it: Ball/Waletzko/Tyler havent shown anything that indicates they can play LT in NFL ....and Steele has shown in 2020 and '21 that he cant either.

As late as late July / August the teddy Bears of Chicago were holding Tevin Jenkins out of practice due to “ undisclosed injury “ coach Eberflus would not elaborate on . Pass .

You guys don't do your homework, do you? Unbelievable. Come on, guys. Do some recent research before you blast the guy.

Here. Check it out. Read this article and watch the video clips included about the Bears' last preseason game where they recently beat the Browns. Tevin Jenkins dominated.

Here is another video breakdown from that same Bears/Browns preseason game showing Tevin Jenkins' recent surprise improvements...

And here is another video showing Tevin Jenkins' improved performance during the Bears preseason game against the same Seahawks our Cowboys just finished playing...

Yes, Tevin Jenkins looks darn good at Guard! He certainly doesn't look feeble, weak or injured. Imagine him at Left Guard teamed up next to Tyler Smith. 2 big mauling road graders who will totally push and destroy any opposing Dline on our Oline's left side...GUA...RAN...TEED!

If I were the Cowboys, I would be trying very hard to get a trade done right now with the Bears for Tevin Jenkins. Offer the Bears a 2nd or a 3rd. It would be worth it if Tevin Jenkins stays healthy and keeps improving. It would immediately improve our Oline and solidify our left side of our starting Oline right away...making us a contending starting Oline once again.

Do it, Jerry! Don't be greedy. Don't listen to Jr. Get it done. This team is too talented to let this year go to waste.

You create a thread asking to trade for Tevin Jenkins. Then later throughout the thread, you backtrack and demand the Cowboys not trade for him after all?

Which is it bro? :muttley:

A young draft pick, from a team with one of the worst offensive lines in football, might be available?

There are no quick fixes, no matter how much we'd like one.

Any team that wants to trade a prior year's 2nd rounder (or higher) knows something. He either can't cut it or he's a liability off the field. Wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole.

So let's pick up a scrub like Chuma Edoga from another team?

Might as well keep and play Josh Ball.

Maybe it’s Jenkins and maybe it’s not, but I can’t help but believe there is another Marc Colombo out there for us. A first round pick in 2002 who had various injuries and fell out of favor with the Chicago Bears, came to the Cowboys in 2005 and gave us 5 quality years as a starter.

please, football gods, send him - whoever he is - our way quickly.

At least he's young and has some experience. I like it better than wasting a boatload of money on an over the hill Peters.

Highly touted, high draft stock, often penalized, often injured, no one wants him so we can get him very cheap.

Sounds like a perfect guy for Jerry to sign.
