I'd rather a smart player like Coale start over an athletic guy like Ogletree

witten weighed more (264 to 259) and was faster(4.65 to 4.68) coming out of college.

but whats clear is witten is far more agile and that marty b is no where near 249 anymore. anyone who really believes he is faster than witten is not very bright. he weighs 291 pounds right now.

having watched plenty of marty b he isn't very athletic at all. he is clearly clumsy and uncoordinated.

Yeah i guess when you really sit back and watch him...and forget about all the reports, he does look clumsy.

Either way i never really liked him.....I hope we find a Jermichael Finley, when Witten's days are up.

Also, there are so many world class private colleges and universities in America, that the difference between the 25th and 71st ranked university is so small it's like a frog hair split 3 ways.

virginia is closer to harvard in respect and ranking than it is to va tech.

in actuality you are probably right but not in reputation and perception.

I would be willing to bet Coale will know the playbook just as good if not better than Otree by the time the season starts. He has better hands, will run better routes, and is just a guy I think Tony would be able to trust. Sure Otree has been in the system and is our fastest offensive player but I don't think that matters as much because Tony won't trust him. Heres to hoping Coale wins the job (Holmes I see as the #4)

All I want is to see someone step up and make plays if that is Ogletree great same with Coale or any of the other WR. Like many I have been disappointed with Ogletree but if he can go out, turn things around for himself and make plays then that is what matters in by book.

Coale isn't just smart, but he is very athletic, must faster then he gets credit for.

Take a look at this video. You will see him consistantly open down field.

It makes me ill that he is going to be a fantastic WR for you guys. In particular look at the play vs Georgia Tech, 51 seconds into the video. Makes a deep catch, cuts around 2 guys and races to the endzone

Regardless of book smarts, Coale seems to be a player that could eventually play all three WR positions. Ogletree seemed to have issues just lining up correctly at times last year.

I do not care if it Holmes, Coale, Harrison, Radway or the Lorax. Hell they can rotate guys in for all i freakin care. I just want who ever gives them the best chance of making plays and run the route they are suppose to run.

Dallas seems to overlook guys like Amendola. Guys that move the chains are very valuable. A guy that is quick with good hands and smart is more valuable than a guy who runs a 4.3 with questionable hands and might not be in the right spot.

I disagree. Crayton was a important piece of the offense for years - they just had more invested in Roy Williams and that is why they let Crayton go IMO. I think they know who makes offenses tick and those who have great promise but don't fulfill.

Every QB needs that 3rd WR you can count on. I think GArrett knows that as well as anyone given the success of 3rd WR's when he and Aikman were QB's in Dallas.

Coale's numbers are very similar to Ogletree, the only real difference is their 40 speed, and I think that it's plainly obvious Ogletree is the faster receiver. In terms of athleticism though, they are quite similar.

The real objection most have with this thread, is that the assumption was made that Ogletree was stupid and athlethic and Coale was smart and unathlethic.

An assumption that was made in part because Coale has done nothing in the NFL yet, but Ogletree is seen as a failure because he has had NFL time.

In my mind, there is also no doubt that the race of both players had something to do with both their stereotypes as well.

When it comes to "smarts", you seldom hear it in relation to black players. That's just the way it is. Dwayne Harris was a productive collegiate player that wasn't particularly athletic, but I don't remember anyone ever calling him "smart" as a prospect.

Otree was a undrafted free agent.. If you get anything out of him he beat the odds.. not everybody can be a Romo or Austin.. 3 year rule applies.. If he doesn't produce this year then time to go. Just remember tho.. Witten, dez myles felix and Murray are on this team..

That's the worst video to try to demonstrate Coale's supposed 4.3 speed. There are a number of times in the video that Coale is getting caught from behind or at least caught up to. On at least one occasion it kept him out of the endzone.

He's got very good athleticism, but I don't believe for one second his pro day times.

I feel like I've stepped into an evil parallel universe.

Are you sure you two haven't accidently swapped opinions?
