Quinn might be a good comp. Believe he had 10 sacks for us as a fun for hire but gosh he did NOTHING against the run.

I hope Williams can develop to be a 3 down player, but if not, hopefully he can at least be a stud situational pass rusher.
Quinn has always been my comp for him (Mafe too). He has the build to he an ok run defender, but his play style is always going to be aggressive against the pass. He will probably be playing at least 60%-70% but 2024, and possibly 2023 but he will probably come out in obvious run downs

Comparing Robert Quinn to Sam Williams might be the worst comparison that I've ever seen.

It's like comparing Tyreek Hill to Mike Evans.

Sam Williams has bulrushed starting NFL OTs straight back into the QB.

Robert Quinn can run fast past OTs but he can't bushrull KaVontae Turpin.

Are also having problems stopping the run play Williams and 99 over there on first and second down!! Bohanna Hankins in the middle!! If These guys cant stop the run sit on the bench! Bye bye Gallimore soon!! Better wake up or you are gone soon. They may even trade him soon!
They aren’t. The problem has been NT. They get washed out and it allows G’s / C’s to get on our def 2nd level and wash out LB’s/ safeties. Our CB’s lack of willing to tackle also hurts. And finally TBH Kearse has not been the same player this year. Don’t know if it’s that injury or what but he’s not making any tackles near the line of scrimmage and he’s been getting beat in coverage.

Do you honestly think we should be evaluating players on preseason performance when he was likely going up against up against other rookies?

You just quoted regular season run stopping dominance…would love to see it. We know he has 4 TFLs…2 of which show nothing of him disengaging from an OT, reading the play, and getting to the all carrier. Can’t find vids on other 2.

If you have all 22 of additional plays would love to see it.

What difference does it make if a sack is against an NFL pro or up against a 2nd stringer? He is doing what he needs to do even with his limited opportunities. He is only a rookie and is only going to get better.

Run D just isn’t about strength though…it’s the ability to get off blocks and having the instincts to sniff out where the play is going and finish.

More snaps and opportunities will give us more of a chance to evaluate him but as of now I haven’t really seen anything against the run. And again, he isn’t the starter for a reason so IMO the strong possibility of why is bc of run defense.

You need need strength to hold your ground as a run stopper. It's very important. And I have seen enough from Sam Williams to know that he has that ability.

He isn't a starter because his a rookie. He is part of the rotation. That is how Dan Quinn operates and takes nothing away from Sam Williams.

I’ve watched every snaps of every game…so what plays are you talking about?

Again, he was unblocked on his TFL against the Lions and he beat a TE against the Rams. Any examples of him getting off a block against an OT and making a run stop?
Which plays of every snap that you watched did he struggle in ?

He has 4 tackles for loss. So 2 more than the ones you keep pointing out.

William's weakness is literally run support. The run D would get worse.

He isn't a starter for a reason.
That doesnt seem to be correct, he played DE in 3-4 scheme , the DE’s role in 3-4 is run stopping, In the limited snaps I see he is good in tackling RBs

I mean when he’s in the game he just doesn’t make plays against the run. I can’t find video for the first 2 TFLs…

He has tackles on limited snaps, 4 of them got a loss. Clearly he's making tackles in the run game.

How can you say you watch every play, and also say he's bad vs the run, but literally have 0 examples of how..

I've literally read every post on this thread by you.

You've only tried to discredit him as a run defender and 2 of his tackles for losses basically saying they were easy.

No where on this thread did you reference a play by Williams, while on the cowboys, where he was a poor run defender.

Again, youve watched every play and want people to post proof or his positive plays, yet you won't/can't post any of his negative plays besides his scouting report.

Great. My point is if he’s on the field eating snaps I’d like to see him actually make plays against the run. I don’t have clips of all his negative plays - the fact that he isn’t making plays is enough for me.

And yes, I stated that him tackling a RB untouched and beating a TE against the adam’s didn’t show me much for 2 of his TFL. I can’t find the other 2 so kudos if they were greta plays actually getting off blocks.
