You can add some DE/OLB types as well
Manny Lawson
Elvis Dumervil
Kamerion Wimbley
Pierre Woods

Can't leave off DeMeco Ryans Spencer Havner as well with the type of years they have had

Of that group (which is a very nice group BTW) I like Hawk of course, Brooks and Parham.

Anyone watch much of Greenway? I know very little about him, other than he was highly ranked going into the season.

Is he worth a pick in the first 25 or so picks?

I didn't realize Hawk was only 6'1". And schools have a tendency to not always be accurate when it comes to measurables. I wonder if he comes in 6' or smaller at the combines, his stock will fall to the lower half of the first rd.

If A. Brooks is there when we pick in the first, I say take him, but personally, I'd like us to go OL or WR in the first.

Weak WR draft

Don't care. Willing to reach this just once. We need to start developing a young stud at WR. Should've done so years ago.

reaching is how you screw up

Crayton has a future here. We can mine a WR in 3rd to 4th range.

Game is won lost in the trenches.

Yes, Crayton does have a future here, but as a solid 3rd and hopefully down the road a solid 2nd. We need a someone that defensive coordinators will gameplan around. As much as I like Crayton, he is not that person.

I was 1/2 joking and 1/2 serious about reaching for a WR in the first. If the WR class is absolute garbage, then we go OLine (but a few prospects will emerge during the combines, they always do). Atleast we have some prospects in the Linebacking position. Can't say the same about OL and WR.

Some of these holes will have to be filled via free agency OL, FB, Backup TE, LOLB, ILB and FS. Odds are either one or the other ILB or LOLB is filled via Free Agency perhaps Andra Davis at ILB or Kalimba Edwards at OLB.

Andra Davis can't stay on the field, Parcells' isn't a big fan of injury prone players....Heck of a player when he is healthy

Yeah, I was totally taken back by this when I heard the Ranch Report at 5:30 PM today.

I think this neck injury has really got Dat thinking about his future after his playing days are over.

As far as his replacement is concerned. There is this dude name Bill Parcells who has had nothing short of stellar drafts and one thing he knows is linebacker and I am sure he is happy to have another excuse to draft a linebacker in the draft.

I was taken aback as well. Dat is still a young man, and had several good years of football ahead of him. An NFL career is all too brief anyway, but this injury is just totally sad - I hope above all else there are will be no health consquences even if he does retire. Anything spinal is both dangerous and fraught with complexities.

Maybe, just maybe, if Dat gets a physical and mental rest over the next few months, and gets the okay from his doctors and from his family, he will decide he can play next season.

'Contemplating' retirement doesn't mean it will be his final decision.

In Bill's words, Dat Nguyen is "a football playing dude".

Yeppers!!!

I heard on the Ticket while driving home from work and just before the Ranch Report that they had placed the guy on IR.

At first I thought it was a mistake.

LTN, did you catch the story Mickey told about the first time Darren Woodson saw Dat play at A&M?

It is hard to beleive that the guy never went to a Pro Bowl, even though I think he should have went in 2003 over Urlacher.

Yep, Parcells also said 2 Camps ago that Dat could play with him anywhere. Which is why I am so amazed why certain people still want to cut this guy every year...

If I were him, I would go ahead and retire if it is bothering him that much. You know what Parcells says, If you are thinking about retirement, then you probably should go ahead and do it. I was surprised that Mickey said Parcells hinted that he had had discussions with Dat before about retiring.

Would be sad to know he played his last game.

Listen to BP on PC

This isn't just a stinger. Dat is physically and emotionaly beat down. I sense today Dat has crossed the line of just wanting to move on. Health there - sometimes players lose that fire.

I would NOT rule out he plays elsewhere in a 4-3 D that better suits him..... His days here are over.
