If David Carr gets released does he become our backup QB?

There are going to be so many QBs in the NFL, more than teams want. The ones coming out of college, good ones too, and the ones replaced like Plummer and Carr. I wisht that Dallas could get Stanton from MSU to back up Romo.

As for Carr I think he will get picked up by another team, I always though he was good, just didn't have guys around him to help him win.

just look around the league. over 5-6 teams are looking for a young starting QB with upside. he will become a starter...my guess is: vikings or raiders

I think teams are seeing what Joey Harrington is doing now in Miami, and will take a chance that Carr will be better once he gets a change of scenery, we all saw how pathetic Joey was as a starter in Detroit, but he came into a situation where he wasn't expected to be the savior, he was brought in as Culpepper's backup, and he's doing ok now, as he wasn't rushed into the starting position like him and Carr were because of their high draft statuses, and contracts

He's not going to come here to rot away behind Romo for years. If he takes a backup job, its going to be with a team that has a veteran starter who might be not have a strong foothold as the future QB of the franchise. Minnesota, Carolina, Jets.

Say what you want about Carr, but two things you can't say is that he's not tough and that he's not a team player.

Tough, look at how many sacks he's endured yet, has remaed relatively injury free.

Team PLayer, look at how many sacks he's endured, yet he doesn't go in front of a camera to gripe about his coaches or point fingers at his OLINE (if you can call it that).

I think the guy could ge good if he had better talent around him (or talent period)

Aikman is 10000000 (i got tired of putting up zeros) times better than Carr!!! The guys that Blocked for Aikman in his rookie year were still around when the Boys were going to the playoffs... NATE, TUI, GOGAN, STEP and so on!!! Any old head Cowboy fan should know this!!!

the difference is TROY got better CARR has not!

Carr has Moulds and Johnson and threw for negative yards in a Gary Kubiak west coast O... thats hard to do!

he is an OL killer like Bledsoe! But if some of u wanna put him in the HOF with Troy after he changes "scenery" then be my guess, but I have to laugh!

David Carr is Troy Aikman...

:lmao::lmao2::lmao::lmao2:

While noone is going to make the leap to compare Carr to Troy, your example really doesn't fit. Troy and Carr? No comparison. Dallas's OL versus Houston's OL? No comparison. The Dallas OL ended up VERY good while the same can not be said for Houston. There's a reason why it's easy to rattle off names of the Dallas OL members while on the other foot, you'd be hard pressed to name ONE guy on the Texan OL side... There were probowlers playing on the Dallas OL...

I feel bad for the guy, but the bottom line is he just can't it done.
The QB he fashioned his game after was Trent Dilfer. Nuff Said.
He also had dreams of playing for Fresno State and when he actually got
on the field they went 7-5 then improved to 11-3 the following year. Did i mention they beat powerhouses like Colorado, Wisconsin, and Oregon St.!!!!
Here are his TD to INT #'s since he was a rook......and yeah I know he hasn't had alot of help, but that's not my fault, it's all front office.
02 9 td 15 int
03 9 td 13 int
04 16 td 14 int
05 14 td 11 int
The Carolina Panthers were an expansion team and really haven't looked back since, and I think we can all agree that the Texans have made one bad decision after another.

carr is terrible please tell me all of this is a joke. he makes bad decisions steadily he couldn't carry romos jock, hell he couldn't carry bledsoes jock, we have all seen first hand what he gives you sacks and lots of them, losses, fumbles, and picks none of which we are looking for i believe

Some of you gomers need to at least try and THINK before you post. Take a look at Aikmans numbers before he had a decent O line. Look at any expansion team. Houston has never bothered to BUILD a O line. AND yet look at Carrs numbers- I think you would find it VERY difficult to find ANY QB who could have done much better. Houston has had by acclimation the WORST O LINE IN THE NFL FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS. AS BAD as ours was in 2002, theirs has been WORSE.

yeah i'll definately grant you that but C.P. has talent like only a handful of players in the league do. jordan could for sure turn into a solid backup with the right coaching like we have i.e.antonio romero hell late in the draft he's worth the shot we wasted enough daft picks through the years anyway he could be the next big thing

is Carr gonna be a free agent anytime soon? i cant see how the Texans would let him go after not taking Vince Young last year in the draft, they mustve figured they were all set at QB:starspin

I thought Houston redid his deal last year right before the draft. I think he got an extension.

I agree. All I would need to know about the Houston braintrust is that they passed on R. Bush in the last draft. The same people were the ones surrounding Carr with talent.

He may never be as good as Carson, but he sure as hell can't be any worse than Eli LOL

Palmer has a good arm, a quick release, can move. 06 is a horrible measuring stick b/c UTEP had no offensive line whatsoever. Proof of that is in the 2.4/rush average and the 691 total rushing yards and he was sacked 22times.

Compare that to Brady Quinn's 30sacks though. Jordan's mobility helped A LOT. He is a gunslinger at times, trying to do too much (forcing passes, etc), but he can learn to stop that (as it appears Romo has).

If he's there in the 4th-5th rounds, I say why not. But, I am a biased UTEP alum.

Go Cowboys!

The SMART move for Houston would have been to trade down for more picks and get more good players- if not taking Ferguson to give them a top LT would have been a lot better. I don't care how good a RB or a QB is, if you ain't got at least a decent line they will stink. What absolutely baffles me is that EVERYONE has known for YEARS their O line stank- yet they have done very little to build one. That is stupidity on a grand scale that only Detroit seems to be able to match on a consistent basis; or Arizona- and its noticeable that Arizona's O line stinks pretty good as well.
