If Garrett does leave, is Wade then fired?

If you believe what Norm Hitzgas said, he thinks the only reason Wade wasnt canned is because Jerry would almost assuredly have to fire Garrett too.

So if Garrett is out of the equation, would Jones change his mind about Phillips?

This is the same sort of scenario that basically got Schottenheimer run in SD, and the owner/GM even acknowledged it.

If Garrett goes I am all in favor of wholesale changes on the staff. He's my hope for the future. I hate the idea of anyone else as the next coach at this point. I have no loyalty to Wade.

If that's what it takes to get the ball rolling as far as coaching changes, then so be it.

depends IMO...

If Garrett leaves AND there is still someone available to fill the HC position. You would hope Jerry is at least doing due diligence and speaking with potential candidates.

Would really suck is Garrett left, and all of the suitable candidates had already been inteviewed and hired. I think the Jets and Browns move fast...

I think both stay. Jerry will probably fork over more money to Garrett for him to stick around one more season. But if he leaves, I can see Jerry promoting somebody in-house. Wade Wilson or somebody.

Why would Jones kick Phillips to the curb after emphasizing that he was going to keep him? Add the fact that Jones enjoys hiring assistant coaches instead of allowing his head coach to make the decision, it wouldn't surprise me that he will just plug another coach of his own choosing in Garrett's place.

Wade Wilson to HC? Good God no.

This is an interesting question though. If Garrett leaves would this possibly be a reason for Jerry to change his mind? That is an interesting thought.

I'm sure nothing will come of any of it cause we probably won't get lucky enough for the Lions to take Garrett off our hands.

Garrett leaves, fire Wade.....

Who are you bringing in as HC then?

If it's anyone besides Cowher/Stoops I'd be disappointed.

I'd be shocked if it's not Holmgren in 2010.

Could be a lot worse.

Coached up a lot of 2nd day type QB's.

why does anyone support garrett at this point? he is way over his head as an OC, why would he be a good HC. His offensive players called him out and said his offense was no good and everyone had caught up to it. we put up 40 against the eagles in the first meeting and six the next.... guess which coordinator is better (hint, it is not red). Garrett is overrated. good riddance.

Funny how JG was the perfect OC last year, but this year everyone wants him out of here. I find it funny, but maybe that's just me.

He hasn't proven anything from a coaching perspective. If he were an effective OC, we would have put up a LOT more points this year than we did with the talent we have. Doing so would have won us at least 2 more games and would not have made the last game a playoff game for us.

Frankly, blame should be spread around to Romo, Red, Wade, Special Teams, and so on.

I think Cowher is due for a return to the NFL. I know there were rumors of him holding out of the Carolina gig, but I can't see Fox going anywhere for a while. Everything that Bill Cowher stands for is what our team needs. Toughness. Attitude. Discipline. Most intimidating butt-chin in football.

That's because everyone thought Garrett was the brains behind the offense last season. Little did we know it was Sparano. We were fine letting him go to Miami because we thought Garrett could do it by himself. Obviously he can't and many of us, including myself, were very wrong.

Has anyone heard a peep from Garrett since the game? Garrett seemed to have few interviews/comments during the season. I understand Parcells forbid the coaches from talking but Im not sure what WP stand is on this. I wasn't impressed with his "coachspeak" during the few times I saw him interviewed. I can't believe the media wouldn't be trying to interview him and try to get his thoughts on why his unit underperformed.

The problem with Garrett was that teams caught up with his schemes and he didn't really change up.

nope...I'm right there with you.

He had a huge impact on Romo last yr and his system is what allowed Romo to set all those records, he didnt become stupid a yr later.

It's the teams work ethic thats the issue. He doesnt deserve to be absolved of everything, but our offense was one of the best in the league last yr, especially the passing game.

And this is probably by 4th time of posting this. Garrett tore up the passing playbook and system and installed his own. Sparano didnt call the play nor did he design them.
