If Garrett does leave, is Wade then fired?

Has anyone heard a peep from Garrett since the game? Garrett seemed to have few interviews/comments during the season. I understand Parcells forbid the coaches from talking but Im not sure what WP stand is on this. I wasn't impressed with his "coachspeak" during the few times I saw him interviewed. I can't believe the media wouldn't be trying to interview him and try to get his thoughts on why his unit underperformed.

I'm with you... I'd love to hear something from him.

But the few interviews I've heard with him have been incredibly bland and informationless cliche-fests. So I doubt he'd say much of substance anyway.

He hasn't proven anything from a coaching perspective. If he were an effective OC, we would have put up a LOT more points this year than we did with the talent we have. Doing so would have won us at least 2 more games and would not have made the last game a playoff game for us.

Frankly, blame should be spread around to Romo, Red, Wade, Special Teams, and so on.

I think Cowher is due for a return to the NFL. I know there were rumors of him holding out of the Carolina gig, but I can't see Fox going anywhere for a while. Everything that Bill Cowher stands for is what our team needs. Toughness. Attitude. Discipline. Most intimidating butt-chin in football.
Cowher ain't coming to Dallas.

Funny how JG was the perfect OC last year, but this year everyone wants him out of here. I find it funny, but maybe that's just me.

nope...I'm right there with you.

He had a huge impact on Romo last yr and his system is what allowed Romo to set all those records, he didnt become stupid a yr later.

It's the teams work ethic thats the issue. He doesnt deserve to be absolved of everything, but our offense was one of the best in the league last yr, especially the passing game.

And this is probably by 4th time of posting this. Garrett tore up the passing playbook and system and installed his own. Sparano didnt call the play nor did he design them.

The offense failed this team in the last part of 07 and again this year. Granted the defense was much better this year but that only reinforces the offensive problem.

Our two biggest star offensive players say the offensive scheme is a problem. It was obvious teams were jumping routes and even running them. Not one team.

I have no problem with Wade staying to run the defense. I do have a problem with our OC.

Because it was public knowledge, posted in every newspaper and online news that covers the Cowboys...because Garrett said he re-did the passing game...because Phillips said it

No, Jerry Jones has decided to go down fighting with good old Wade Phillips.

Also, make no mistake about it, the Cowboys gave Jason Garrett permission to interview with the Lions because it would be promotion and they know Jason Garrett isn't going to take the job.

Even though you know you are not going to take a Head Coaching job in the NFL, there are only 32 of them so you always want to use it for interview experience and you never want to burn any bridges.

Jason Garrett is not going anywhere. He is being paid like a Head Coach and probably has been promised the Head Coaching job here.

Wade Phillips is here for another year, no matter what happens to Jason Garrett.

Garrett leaves, fire Wade.....

Who are you bringing in as HC then?

If it's anyone besides Cowher/Stoops I'd be disappointed.

I'd be shocked if it's not Holmgren in 2010.

Could be a lot worse.

Coached up a lot of 2nd day type QB's.
Stoops? GMAB. Cowher, of course. If it's anyone else besides those two you'd be disappointed. Why? Because they aren't big names. Well let's look at the 3 first year coaches that are in the playoffs. They are Football coaches who have been around the NFL for a while and were itching to get a chance to be a head coach. We don't need a big name, we need a coach that is going to instill discipline and a winning attitude. Whether it's a big name coach like Cowher or some assistant coach waiting for his opportunity to prove he can coach an NFL team.

" The pass-heavy game plan [vs Chicago] that included Terrell Owens starting several plays lined up in the backfield also showed the creativity of new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett."

And there we have it!!!

An AP article that says Garrett is...or should I say WAS creative.

:lmao2: :lmao: :lmao2: :lmao:

Damn......probably would have been a good idea to line up a guy like Key in the back field at times.

Oh wait........

That Garrett....what a genius.

So, which coach was acknowledged for implementing the "pass heavy game plan"?

What do you expect from Wade? Or for the matter Campo, Switzer or anyone else? Jerry picks his assistant coaches, players and completly runs the show.

The Dallas Cowboys head coach is nothing more than a hand puppet with Jerry's hand up Wades (well you know) moving his lips, telling him what to say or do.

Personally I think Wade is a good coach. I think Garrett is good, yes they have both been burned bad at times but they are doing as good as anyone possibly could with their hands tied behind their back and Jerry running the show.
No, the problem is not Wade or Garrett. Look a little higher. And also no team is going to win if there is no protection for the quarterback and a cancer like TO on the team.

Next head coach should be Nick Saban. He has NFL experience under Belichick, and has no problems getting in players' faces when they screw up.

Saban has proved that he's a much better college head coach (LSU & Alabama) than an NFL head coach (Miami Dolphins). Additionally, he prefers coaching college players over professional ones.
