If I Keep Repeating On Ro Maybe I'll Hit Paydirt

call me a homer.. But the Idea of Sean Lee and Rolando McClain playing together makes me giddy. Throw in second year Mr. Versatile Anthony Hitchens, now we have a LB'er trio that compares favorably to any combination in the league. All the talk lately has been how much the DL has improved and deservingly so. Another year of under Marinelli's defense and a full off season to get ready will make Rolando even that much better! There's no denying his playmaking ability. Likewise, the same can be said about Sean Lee. By all accounts, Lee is fully healthy and chomping at the bit to prove he's back. Anthony Hitchens was simply more than we could have expected from a 4th round pick. A full offseason to change his college physic to Pro and, like McClain, master what Marinelli preaches... This group looks as good as it gets with highly capable back-ups pushing the trio for a chance themselves. This defense has completely transformed into, what I believe, a top five defense. (and this all happened within a two year span..good job Garrett & Co.)

I think the change of Lee playing outside LB is going to be great.... I think if Lee can stay healthy he can be an All-Pro this year and provide Dallas with some big time plays.

That's a pretty big if... but yeah, I agree. Lee will make a lot of plays if healthy.

The good news is that WLB will be a lot less physically taxing for Lee.

This board is just funny like that. Most people hate the most talented, most dynamic, and most productive players on this team..

Bizarro World

It is bizzare. When it strays beyond football it ruffles my feathers:omg:. Also the devaluing of humans into football-machines. But that's just me.

How many articles could I show you of the front office talking up player X that didn't work out. Its what NFL and all sports front office do. What Jones says doesn't support anything. All the evidence you need in McClain is what has been seen. And evidence both past and present make a pretty compelling case that he is a good football player that if you have you need a very strong contigancy plan for becasue he cant be counted on.

Exactly.

All she see's is a star on dudes helmet though.

Dallas owner Jerry Jones said he thought McClain would be ready when training camp opens. During a practice period where McClain had to watch because of his recovery from knee surgery, Jones chatted with the linebacker.

"I just wanted to see how he felt he was doing with his rehab," Jones said, "and he feels good about it."

I can't for the life of me understand why the Refrigerators are empty on this.

If they didn"t think he was going to be able to give them what he gave last year and more you would hear things like " I hope, and he needs to work on ". But that's not what you hear from those that matter.

I think RoMc is a bit of a knucklehead, but I think the media goes way overboard about his issues.

I'm not certain what point you are attempting to make.

The media does exaggerate the RoMc issues, IMO; however, he does have some issues. I don't know how anybody could deny that he does have some issues that might or might not be a problem.

Let me see if I can separate the facts from the speculation:

Facts (From my understanding):
1. He has great physical ability.

2. He has been arrested multiple times.

3. He has quit on 2 other teams.

4. He had conditioning issues in Oakland. This can be seen when reviewing those games where he could barely run in the 4th quarter and was "sucking wind".

5. He has missed a lot of games in his NFL career, some of them due to injuries.

Speculation:
1. He does not like to practice.

2. He fakes or exaggerates injuries.

3. He loses focus mentally at times. Example last season after his house burned down he appeared to check out mentally.

4. He is difficult to coach. Several reports indicted the Cowboys coaches were not highly in favor of his return but that the front office pushed the issue.

5. He might not understand the scheme as well as he should because he does not work hard enough.

Bogus injuries?

The guy came off a couch and had 2 and a half months to get into football shape and learn a new scheme and integrate with new teammates.

Hardly shocking that he was constantly nicked up. I also think negativity came his way because he ended the season with back to back concussions. I bet he purposefully threw his head into tackles so he could come off the field. Hint that was sarcasm.

Gosh. Only 10 weeks to get into football shape? I didn't realize that. What about the little nagging injuries he missed practices with all season. Mark my words this guy will be a waste.

If 10 weeks were all players need... Why are there otas and minicamps?

Mark your words? You seem almost giddy with the prospect.

It's a losing battle. Some of these arguments I've never heard before ... but I'm hoping their wishes don't get answered ... for the players sake and for the teams sake.

Not exactly. I'm rooting for the player, yes, because he is a Cowboy, but mostly because I LIKE the player where others HATE the player. (Being a tall drink of water doesn't hurt ... but I digress...;)) I admit my bias in the discussion. I also love what he brings to the team. Something we haven't had in a long time. I also relate to the struggle.

I dont think I have seen anyone say they weee rooting for McClain to fail. No one here wants that, and I have yet to see anyone say they do.

There are many that dont want to rely on him, there are many that want to see more stable players like Hitchens and Wilson succeed. But no one is rooting for McClain to fail

Ok I can understand where you are coming from.

Not the tall drink thing though, lol

McClain is still a flier. If he wasnt he would have gotten alot more interest in the market. Still has alot to prove on and off the field

There are some major concerns about McClain around the NFL. I think his agent considered one season as enough evidence to get a nice contract from some team in need of LB help., The one injury-filled season and his erratic behavior has raised some red flags around the league and Dallas appeared to be the only serious team that wanted him. I understand the lack of trust. This guy has great talent, but he is kinda of a nutcase.

Not giddy at all, just don't want to rely on him, or waste too many reps.

I feel pretty confident that McClain will be ready to go come the first real game of the season regardless of what is happening now. Fingers crossed for a full season of him and Sean Lee lining up and playing to the full extent of their abilities.
