I'd like to see some boring smash mouth football. Line up and run Zeke with the occasional pass here or there.

Beating someone with brute force is demoralizing
Ah-ha! Page #1 from the Dan Reeves school of smash mouth playbook,,, good tactic to employ after the extended aerial attack of the 'shock and awe' campaign:thumbup:

I have mixed feelings about opening play with a set of "scripted" plays, but I could see Linehan doing something along those lines to probe the defense.

Personally, I would love nothing better than seeing Dallas ram the ball down their throats with, hopefully, an angry Zeke.

I just think people that expect Switzer to do a lot other than field punts in this game are dreaming.

It might be nice to imagine him running routes with Beasley at the same time, but I don't believe they have practiced it enough to use in games.

Given our typically conservative nature, we won't peel back that layer of the playbook for a while.

That is why Switzer's hamstring was a frustrating thing.

It kept us from seeing how that attack method might work.

Speed is speed. No matter, if Swit is in the game at wr, Giants have to account for that and cover him.

He still has to know what he is doing and Prescott has to feel he can trust him. I am not aware of a lot of practice time they have spent together. If there is something I might have missed, do tell.

Pretty sure he knows how to run a route. If Giants don't want to cover him, good for them.

Interesting. I guess all rookies that miss substantial time in camp can just lean back on their innate skill to "run routes"?

Now he forgot how to run a route because he didn't play in a preseason game. What's he gonna do, run out of bounds and head for the exits because he isn't too bright? As I said, if Giants are thinking like you, then they don't have to cover him. Just let do what he wants on the field, because he is too dumb to know what a route it.

Yes! Plus, it would be especially gratifying given the circumstances. I would love to see that line
being used as a steamroller for 60 minutes tomorrow night.

Sure. That is exactly what I said.

Off you go.

Switzer is ready to see what he can do at the pro level. A hamstring injury kept him out of preseason action, but he is healthy and ready to go for the regular-season opener Sept. 10 vs. the New York Giants.

“I feel great. I’ve put two solid weeks of practice in, so I’ll be ready to roll Sunday night,” Switzer said. “Obviously it would’ve been nice to get some reps, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to. I’ve got to make do with what I got. They’re expecting me to be ready Sunday night and I will be mentally and physically.

Whoa. A rookie who has yet to record a down of actual live NFL play feels confident?

Count me in amongst the convinced.

Everyone expects Zeke on first down and throws to Dez, Whit, and Beasley. I would put in some plays for TWill and Butler and lead with those. If we can establish that the defense has to concern themselves with those two as well, the next series will open the door for big plays when we go to the heavy hitters.

I would like nothing better than a fake hand off to Zeke and a long post pattern to Butler to start the first series. Even if it does not hit it sends a message that the team is going to be more vertical. Then as the DBs loosen, we hit em with Dez slants and Beasley drag routes and of course pounding the rock with Zeke. I want Dak to get his passes off quickly and slow the rush out of shear exhaustion. Then pound the crap out of them in the fourth quarter with Zeke, Rod, Darren and Alfred.
Sounds good except the only one I want to see running is Zeke. Don't recall emmitt coming out much.

Disagree. Impose your will on the defense. If you're supposed to have a big, bad offensive line and the best damn running back on the planet, let's see it by putting a hat on a hat and punching these guys in the mouth with the run game early and often.
Wrong! Unveil the secret Switzer weapon.
