If Lance were signed for next 3 years

Why sign a QB and a dual-threat one at that, who is raw with limited college experience and instead of developing him, let him sit. This situation would be ideal for him to get in-game experience and develop as a QB.
For the FO to invest draft capital in the player, only to let him languish and let him become a free-agent at the end of the season is inexplicable…but then again it’s the Jones’ boys.
Would love to know what they were thinking, or not, when they made the deal.
Seems this FO does nothing but impede and handicap the progress of this team.
It was a 4th round pick.

Most of them don't turn into anything

Would he be playing? Discuss. (Trying a Coog-style approach)
It’s obvious to even the biggest Lance supporters that he can’t play. I wouldn’t bring him back. Rush can’t throw the football for more then 10 yards down the field and they don’t trust Lance to even play in the wild cat package.

Exactly, the drama for that 4th rounder on this place, like this FO is not blowing 2nd round picks year in and year out.

I would do it again, the kid was a top prospect for cheap, if he wont work out so be it.

I hope not...just flush this mistake of a trade down the toilet and move on. At this point, even a QB drafted in the mid-late rounds in 2025 would be more worthy of developing for the next 3 years.

Probably not. They will play who they believe helps them win more. Even when wins do absolutely nothing but hurt your offseason.

Rarely do I see a cast away QB signed to a 3 year deal. They usually go 1 year at a time, and usually with multiple teams. Any 3 year deal would be more expensive.

If Trey Lance were to be extended for 3 years, it would likely be a big mistake, imho. JJ hasn't even seen enough in him to have to be given the opportunity to develop any further. Signing him for another 3 years would be contrary to the lack of confidence in him. I just can't picture it.

We'd do better to draft one that looks good, if available. If not, a capable vet FA QB could be signed to replace Rush. There is no sure thing.

Every QB we have makes me physically ill watching them. And one of them is the highest paid player in the NFL. Remember the glory days when we had a starter-worthy backup QB just in case our #1 went down?

I would think yes. However we are dealing with a FO that is stupid.
He should be playing now regardless.
The games we are playing right now are somewhat like pre-season games in that the only thing on the line is player evaluation and draft order. In other words I can’t understand why at this point Lance isn’t playing.

Look, I think he’s terrible but he does have raw talent that cannot get better without playing time. This crazy FO is paying a total cap hit of $5.3 mil for this guy to sit on the bench. He’s costing us more this year than Saquon Barkley is to the e-girls. The coat of Zeke at $3 mil and Lance at $5.3 mil is more than Balt is paying Derrick Henry.
It’s time for Trey Lance to play.

I tried explaining that he would never play day 1 after we traded for him.
