If McCarthy doesn't get a job

I would be kinda surprised if MM didn't get a job, and I was all for NOT bringing MM back.

I mean, after a decade of utter failure, JG got a job right away. It lead to his gig on TV, but if a coach that NEVER showed any success can get another shot, it would be weird that a SB winner could not.

Oh well, IDC either way, as long as he is not coaching the Cowboys.

No HC has won a Super Bowl with 2 different teams...it's over for McCarthy being a serious coach with any decent team, same with Doug Pederson. Maybe he can invite Pederson to his analytics barn
That may be true, but there have been a number of HCs who took two different teams to the Super Bowl.....Don Shula, Bill Parcells, Dick Vermeil, Andy Reid*

*Little known fact Andy Reid was on the Packer staff in 1992 when they won the Super Bowl.

Like every other record it will be broken I time.

Maybe Signs of youth trend and movement. ..

Maybe signs of non-interest of the retread and old school ala Pete Carroll & McCarthy

And just think ... If McCarthy had yield to Jerry's contract demands, ..he would have easily remained retread- old school here by a useless GM and owner who knows nuthin' else.

I like this younger movement. The younger generation is a lot more sophisticated. These Boomers need to retire.

That clarification makes much more sense. I imagine Parcells could have got another job and I also imagine he would have been successful. That is probably the closest. Did Garrett get another HC interview even or did he jump on the New Jersey Giants OC position?
As it turns out I was wrong - Chan Gailey was the HC in Buffalo from 2010 to 2012. Every other Dallas HC? Switzer and Parcells retired, and Campo bounced around several positions before retiring in 2019. Wade Phillips was the interim HC in Houston in 2013, but these days is coaching in the XFL. Garrett's career ended quickly after Dallas - he was the OC in New York for 2 years then out of the league. MM's fate is still up in the air.

MM could lay off a year and watch some film, and then be ready to be picked up as a HC again. But MM won't be a HC in Chicago this year.

You have no idea. Everything I've read says that MM rejected the idea of an incentive based contract, having Witten on staff, and the term of the contract. If he had agreed, the job was his again. The cowboys had no plan B. They thought they could resign Mike. If the Cowboys were not going to resign him , why did they exercise there exclusive negating rights for 1 week? They could have just let him walk, but they didn't bc Jerry wanted him back but on different terms.
This is exactly the post I was looking for bc it explains everything exactly as it unfolded. It’s like people in this forum have short term memory problems and spin stories however they feel. Great job

1 out of 8 is an embarrassing record when you're a super football genius like old Booger.

Im thinking Jacksonville, as New Orleans may be waiting on Glenn to interview
Glenn’s in Jersey in the Jets’ building Tuesday. Bet they don’t let him leave before signing to be their new head coach.

Yet, he was offered the Dallas job again and rejected it..........meaning he would rather have no job than work for this team another year.

Not necessarily. He may have figured incorrectly that by going on the market he would get hired at more $$ . The Jets are said to have talked to a dozen coaches and he’s not one of them .

MM may have had a sense of inflated worth . The Jets have spoken to Arthur Smith for goodness sakes that’s how deep MM has been avoided .

Quinn was a coordinator, not the HC. Name a single HC since 1995 that went on to achieve great success with another team as a HC...
I think the fact that a couple of our former coordinators are in the NFC Championship Game shows that the problem isn't the coaching. The head coach gets the blame that belongs to the front office.

Imagine if Washington had viewed Quinn like our fans did after the Green Bay game. Moore would have been unhirable as well after the two failures against San Fran in the playoffs.

If I recall the Washington opening Quinn was last resort not the first call they made . KM was let go in Chargers job Harbaugh did not want him . It’s nice having Barkley & AJ Brown DaVonta Smith Goedert the longest serving OL coach in football with the best OL in the game .

In Wash the GM supplied Quinn Six starters on defense in one FA off-season of “grocery shopping “ plus the NFL rookie of the yr in Daniels .

Jerry’s a huge problem obviously here as well
