After 3 yrs of Campo, I was excited when Jones put his ego aside and went out and hired a real coach.
Not only a real coach, but one of the best of all time.
Every problem that I felt was created by a pretender head coach would be rectified.
And so it was, 10-6 and in the playoffs the first year.
But now, 3 yrs later I ask myself, if Parcells is so good, why has he not addressed the most important ingredient in building a football team ?
Anyone that knows anything about football, or anyone that wants to pretend that they know anything about football knows that the foundation or "building block" that you must have to even begin to build a football team is a great offensive line.
A great offensive line makes an average QB or an average RB real good. I actually think our RB and QB are even better than average, so they could really benefit from a quality offensive line.
But here we are 4 yrs after Parcells got here and still can't run when we need to, or protect the pocket.
I know, I know we have some good rushing stats this year, but surely you noticed that when we needed to run, (3rd & short, 4th & short, goalline) even our human battering ram couldn't find a hole.
Four drafts later, four free agency signing periods later, four years of trade opportunities, four years to train and improve someone already on the roster, and still the No.1 ingredient, the first thing you learn in football 101, the main thing you need to have a winning football team is still lacking here in Dallas.
So back to my original question and the title of this thread, if Parcells is so good, why don't we have this taken care of by now ?
Tune in next time when we question why our defensive line can't pressure the pocket after 4 yrs.
