No need to start a fight, just quintuple-team him on 8 straight Melton FB dives

You mean the legal hit that everyone overreacted to because of how brutal it was and it was on a QB?

Yep, league ruled it legal, but it was clearly a cheap shot. Blindsiding a guy that isn't in the play....you can do it, doesn't make it right.

Sean Lee play nothing like it...he got his clock cleaned while he was beelining toward the ball carrier.

would not bank on that Romo is a pretty tough guy when it comes to playing in pain. He has taken bigger shots than the hit on Foles

Tru but 2 back surgeries later... Also Foles took a lot of hits that game...

2 back surgeries and still going. I will grant you Foles took a lot of hits in that game. Skins may have some problems on defense but rushing the passer is not one of them, they can bring pressure

Romo has pretty amazing field presence, I would hope that he would avoid a shot like that.

Not defending any Skins on here, but the hit was legal. Foles just threw a pick and was attempting to run in the direction of the defender making him a "blocker" in the rulebook. As a blocker, any member of the intercepting team can engage him as long as it is not in the back or below the waist according to the NFL rulebook.

The defender made contact with Fole's shoulder, so it was considered a sideways block and 100% legal. The NFL has since ruled it a legal hit and there has been no fine issued for the hit.

Like another poster said, the QB either has to hit the ground or run the other way to be considered "out of the play". Now if the QB is running the other way and a defender chases him across the filed and blows him up on the opposite sideline, then its a penalty, a fine, and probably a suspension if the QB is named Manning or Brady.

Like I said, I am not defending any Skins players on here, but the hit was legal and not dirty at all.

The hit was legal, but it was also a dirty hit. The play was ending and a defensive lineman earholed Foles when he was the most vulnerable. Again, legal play but very dirty.

It definitely was legal. Was it maybe unnecessary? Maybe. Like Nate Newton said on Monday, in plays like that, you can yell out the QBs name and they will stop running and just get out the way. They do not want contact at all. But I don't see the big fuss. Even Kelly came out and said it was a legal hit. Nothing dirty about it. He didn't go for the head or knees.

Whom do you think would come to his defense if anybody?

We don't know the answer(yet? hopefully don't find out?), but if the answer isn't "they're all coming to his defense whooping whoever blindsided him" then they're all just pushovers. When a player (QB especially) gets hit like that, someone better come in (if not the whole team) and lay that person on their ***. If Dez, Smith, Witten, or someone else got ejected for putting that guy in their place then I wouldn't have a problem with it. Yes it would suck to lose them for the rest of the game, but the message it would send would be a lot more important. It would show fight, character, and that they have each other's back which isn't something you could say for this team the past 3-4 years.

If I recall correctly, when their leader on defense got crushed no one really came to his defense. And that just shows you a big part of the problem this team has had. Many of them do NOT (or at least didn't a couple years ago - especially on D) play beside one another, or stick up for another, and are a bunch of spineless pushovers with no fight. I think the tide's changed though.

wouldn't this be considered launching yourself into the player?

Remember that fight at the end of the Commanders game last year after Murray scored the game winning Td? Dez, Murray, Leary and Parnell were all ready to rumble. I think Parnell would've been the first guy throwing punches.

They better be lucky Flozell is not here. Remember when he tried to fight the entire Giants sideline
