If Romo took a hit like Foles did Sunday

Romo has pretty amazing field presence, I would hope that he would avoid a shot like that.

Yeah but... If play is in front of Romo, he, like many players won't be expecting to get blasted from behind or the side. No spider sense ya know... Lol

They are two completely different plays. Lee is making a clear play on the runner and Tate's hit is technically LEGAL if he hadn't hit him on the chin. A few inches lower and it's a clean hit.

The Foles hit is a different situation. That's an example of a player taking a run at a QB who isn't involved in the play. While technically LEGAL according to the NFL, it's clear what Baker's intentions are there and it not to make a block to spring the ball carrier. It's to try to get a legal shot in at Foles.

I wouldn't expect retaliation against Tate because there didn't appear to be an intent to injure or Tate trying to take a free shot at an unsuspecting player. Lee is trying to make a play on Wilson and Tate blocks him. Baker took out Foles as the Commanders safety was already being tackled and Foles clearly wasn't trying to make a play on the ball.

I am puzzled how you can't see the very clear difference.

I'm puzzled as to how you're not comprehending my post. I don't care that Lee was pursuing the ball carrier, I've never even disputed that so I don't see why you're trying to get all technical with the 2 plays. All I've said is in both plays you should have teammates come to the defense of the player that got crushed. You don't even have to throw a punch or physically touch the guy who laid the wood, just get in his face and show him you got your teammates back, that's such a hard thing for this team to do, I know.

This has been one of the main problems with this team under Garret, our team shows zero emotion and has no fight in them. They don't seem to stick up for another, and they're too spineless. I promise you if that hit had happened to Golden Tate, Percy Harvin, or any other Seattle player, the Seahawks would've swarmed the area sticking up for their teammate.

well I would expect all his teammates to get pissed, and want to do something about it, but understand that it was a legal play and that happens on the field. players love to be able to take a shot at the other team's starting QB, it has always been taught in the game that if you can take the QB out esspecially if he's very good then take that shot. Now some guys really want to do harm, but not all some just would like to put him out the game but not hurt him seriously.

the first time a coach of mine said that to our defense was in the 7th grade, he told us that anytime we got a shot on the QB take it, but back then the game was played a little harder then. I hit the guy just like my coach said but I did not try and hurt him, I just wanted to make him nervous and antsy so it would throw him off his game, but we had some guys that wanted to really hurt him. that guy turned out to be our QB in high school. It is how the game is played

I know one thing...if Tony took that hit, I'm not sure he's finishing the game.

To everyone asking why no one came to Lee's defense, the play was very much alive and Golden Tate just laid a huge block on him.

Wasn't even remotely dirty.

I respectfully disagree. My eyes see Golden Tate coiling - then launching upwards with the crown of his helmet targeting the teeth of Sean Lee.

IMO, it WAS a dirty shot... hence the fine.

I would assume whichever lineman seen it first would come in and do what Jason Peters did or worse and level the guy who took a cheap shot on his qb. I just don't know which of our lineman has that nastiness about them. Maybe Marc Columbo? We need a guy with his edginess.

Because of his back? Because I think Tony's already proven he's a tougher player than most of the guys who've ever strapped up in this league.

Tony is a tough guy, but let's be honest. He's getting up there in years, and one cannot discount the toll that years of bad o-line play has taken on him. He would have a better chance than glass QB's like Vick or RG3 though.

Meh. Give me Tony's toughness, today, over Foles'. Any day of the week. Not sure Foles has done anything yet to suggest it's even a valid point of conversation, other than the fact that he doesn't wear a star on his helmet.

That's a pretty odd observation - as Tate's left should is completely obscured from our view and his right shoulder clearly NEVER makes contact with any part of Sean Lee's body.

What are you, Tate's attorney? If so, he should seek representation elsewhere.
