If Shotty is as good as his dad

Will that be good enough for this fan base.

His father Marty had over 200 wins and made it to some NFC championship games.

He did have Bernie kosar and Joe Montana for a while.

I don't know if it will be good enough to do as well as his father did but it may be all we can expect because after 30 years I don't think the spots are going to change on the leopard.

No matter what shotty's skill level is as a coach I think Jerry's always going to keep him a few players short of winning a Super bowl because he just refuses to go all in.

That said if he was capable of bonding the players he had to play far enough above their heads where they could overcome Jerry it would truly be a feat to behold

Good? Marty was 5 - 13 in the playoffs, never made it to a Super Bowl.
Also important to note some of those losses though....

One of those games the kicker missed 3 field goals....do we blame Shotty for missing field goals?

How is this his fault?

They are beating the Pats....corner gets a pick and fumbles it. Game essentially should've and been in their hands at that point.

Here's a history of why that playoff record is what it is.....

I get it.....you are what your record says you are.....but man he had some awful luck.

Rooting for his son. Seems like a genuine good guy. I didn't like the hire and still don't. I don't like that no other team wanted him. I don't like that there wasn't even a search. But for our sake, I hope he has a solid career, and if he's as good as his pops, it will be a good hire.

If he’s as good as his pops the Cowboys will still not win a Super Bowl.

How’s that a “good hire”?

Expect better, bro.

You have no idea who his father was, just in name. You have no idea why he never won a Super Bowl....all you know is his playoff record. His dad was regarded as a good coach. You aren't allowed to revise history for something you don't understand.

All I asked is to expect better.

This fanbase not demanding better from this organization is why someone like Brian Schottenheimer got the head coaching job.

Just needs to be better than the others that were here during this 30 year drought and we can calm him daddy!!

Shotty will do well if the front office adds more talent than it loses and if his coordinators both do a good job. He might need to let the playcalling duties goto his OC.

What exactly should the fanbase have done to coerce Jerry Jones into hiring a better head coaching candidate?
Stop buying in.

I know, it’s impossible for some to not be duped every year, but at least put forth an effort to not be fooled every single year.

It should’ve started about halfway through Garrett’s reign, but as you can see, it’s still going strong.

As long as you buy what Jerry sales every single year you’ll get Brian Schottenheimer types as head coaches.

Why? Because if the fans don’t care then why should Jerry? He knows y’all will buy into every decision he makes.

Only a SB will be good enough.
Now is that a SB appearance and lose, or a win. Remains to be seen. Fans may be happy either way, or not.

Right now fans will be happy to get to a NFCCG, and be competitive in it.
Yeah right. Knowing the cowboys luck, if they did make it to a championship game and lose, I'd be afraid it would be another 10, 20, or 30 more years until they make it again.

If the cowboys make it to the NFCCG, those basterds better win.

If the cowboys had a decent track record of going deep into the playoffs here and there over the last 30, then I would feel comfortable with a NFCCG lose and expecting them to possibly be back there the next year.

That is not the case.

To get over the hump he needs to be better than his Dad.

Marty and Dak are similar, great regular seasons but horrendous playoff losses.

So which one is it?........a SB appearance or an NFCCG appearance?

Tell us which one is good enough and when we will be happy?

We need an official ruling on this before we can proceed

I just like the tagline on that last video: A Legacy of Pain. Cowboys fans can relate for the past 30 years, lol.

Shotty has never been a HC so you can’t make any judgments on how he will do. Every one of us is different.
