If Shotty is as good as his dad

I think being injury prone is a bad thing, not an excuse.
As if Troy Aikman never missed games because of injury? lol He missed more games than Dak or Romo. In his 12 years he missed games due to injury in nine seasons. He missed 26 games over his career. Did that make him a lesser QB?

Marty was one of the great defense oriented HCs from the 80-90s era. Unfortunately his teams came up a hair short in those 2 AFCC games in soul-crushing fashion. "The Drive" in 86 and then "The Fumble" in 87. It's unfortunate, but those two losses are likely the first things that come to mind when looking back at his coaching career. But overall, a great HC.
A great HC, but his playoff record wasn’t good.

When they get 3 rings talk to me.

Romo never got any and Dak probably won’t either. However, you’re downplay them because of injuries and Aikman had more injuries than both. Aikman didn’t even finish a championship game because of an injury.

Good? Marty was 5 - 13 in the playoffs, never made it to a Super Bowl.
Good ol martyball

That term was coined to mean teams that focused on running the ball and playing good defense while doing things the right way. It's one of the best and most consistent recipes for winning games.. in the regular season. But his teams never delivered in the playoffs because they were so good without good QB play that when teams amp up their play and are even a bit riskier in the playoffs that his risk adverse teams without the play making QBs would ultimately lose because they focused on not losing games instead of going out and winning them.

League has changed since then even in the regular season, go look at how many of the top teams last year went for it on 4th down and literally won because of it. Martyball would have just punted in most of these scenarios and tried not to lose the game, which ultimately will lose a game in the playoffs as it's hard to win every game hoping your opponent makes more mistakes than you.

Aikman is a winner.

Dak and Romo are losers.

Aikman has earned the right to be treated differently.
Aikman had much better teams. He wasn’t a winner when he didn’t have great teams. He was 0-11 as a rookie. He was 0-2 in the playoffs when his team began to fade later in the 90s. He got booed in favor of Randall Cunningham. Aikman barely threw half as much as Romo and Dak because of Emmitt Smith and his great defense but still kept getting injured. Apparently you weren’t around back then. Aikman would have struggled to win in postseason with the teams Romo and Dak have had. He wouldn’t have lasted especially having to play comeback because of our running game and defensive issues.

Is this where I’m supposed to partake in your Aikman hate to prop up Dak and Romo?

Yeah, not gonna entertain that nonsense.

Aikman was one of my favorite QBs just providing the facts. I’m getting tired of entertaining you. This isn’t helping your reaction score any. Go click on one of your other accounts to keep improving it. Now back to the topic.

Will that be good enough for this fan base.

His father Marty had over 200 wins and made it to some NFC championship games.

He did have Bernie kosar and Joe Montana for a while.

I don't know if it will be good enough to do as well as his father did but it may be all we can expect because after 30 years I don't think the spots are going to change on the leopard.

No matter what shotty's skill level is as a coach I think Jerry's always going to keep him a few players short of winning a Super bowl because he just refuses to go all in.

That said if he was capable of bonding the players he had to play far enough above their heads where they could overcome Jerry it would truly be a feat to behold
Marty got his first gig at 41. He was an accomplished DC at the time. Brian is 51 and has been a middling OC his whole career. Marty was also 5-13 in the playoffs.

My point is that Marty was not a great coach and Brian has ZERO of the pedigree.

Cowboys fans bar is incredibly low these days.

I remember when the bar was the Super Bowl.

Now it’s pretty stats and regular season success.
That's not our fault our owner has forced us to lower our expectations because he refuses to actually go all in

Shotty has never been a HC so you can’t make any judgments on how he will do. Every one of us is different.
Agreed and if he can overcome Jerry he will truly have accomplished something.

But if can do as well as his dad and at least get us to an NFC championship game I'll consider that some serious progress

Marty was a pretty good coach 200 wins in the NFL isn't an easy thing to do that's a hundred more than the guy whose name is on the trophy
