After that disaster by the hands of SF, this team looks shell shocked and you can see it starting to fall off the rails. It’s not there yet, but a loss to LA and this season will begin going up in smoke. This is a must win and an important get right game. A loss here and even worse, if Dak doesn’t perform then Jerry might have no choice but start Lance. The chants have already started on here and it won’t be long before others begin joining in. A loss here would torpedo this season for good.
Jerry is not starting Lance over Rush especially at 3-3. It may be what y’all want but he’s not. Best case you can hope for is Rush getting in. Lance is not ready.

I know Lance has to get familiar with our system, but remember, this guy has already been in the league for 3 seasons. It's not like he was just drafted this past April. It would be kind of dumb to give up a 4th found pick, pay him $7 mullion of his salary just so he walks in 2 years. I hope he gets a chance to see what he can do. He might be a big bust, but we won't know that until he gets some playing time with us.
The issue isn’t that he’s a bust. It’s that he couldn’t grasp the 49ers offense. The same one Purdy excels at, the same one Garopolo did well. Same one Kirk Cousins did well in. Lance is starting over from scratch and this may be his last shot. For the Cowboys to throw him out there knowing how green he is would be malpractice.

The season is still young and there are a lot of games left to be played.

if he insists on it, McCarthy should quit, as should the entire offensive staff.

Classic casual fan thread. Trey Lance isn’t even our backup QB. If the Chargers beat us and Kellen Moore’s offense puts up a lot of points in the process, all hell is going to break loose on this board. Lol

The team has two choices: stick with Dak, and hope the defense can get enough turnovers to get to the playoffs and lose early. Or switch quarterbacks and hope for the best.

If the team just hopes to make the playoffs, then one is the best bet. If it's serious about a deep run, it's option two.

Are you aware that Lance is currently the 3rd string QB? If the #1 QB isn’t playing for whatever reason you go to the #2 QB. That is Cooper Rush.

Trey Lance is not playing anytime soon unless Dak and Cooper both go down with injuries.

Who is going to "force" Jerry to do anything?

I wouldn't mind if Lance played at some point. It's apparent some folks never saw him play in San Fran. It wasn't pretty, and he had the same supporting cast as Purdy.
You obviously haven’t seen Lance play either, he played one game in a monsoon and got hurt the next game then was out for the season. Lance’s problem was he could not stay healthy with San Francisco. Purdy mastered Shanahan’s system and rightly won the job. Nobody knows how good or bad Lance is. Not you, Jerry, MM or Shanahan.

Wrong, the 49ers know how bad Lance is..

At this point CR would come in. Lance is most definitely not ready. Rush would give the best chance to win. He went 4-1 last year if I’m not mistaken. He definitely sees the field and anticipates better than DP but his arm strength is lacking. I want to see him play soon if we continue to struggle.
"Arrrghh hicccup I paid Dak hiccup glory zone hiccup and he's playin i hiccup want my money's worth hiccup"- Johnny Walker Jerry :muttley:

He is pretty stubborn..
Remember we endured 10 years of Garrett because of Jerry.

I doubt that our FO is likely to act quickly to act correct the QB solutions that might be attended to in the here and now. I'm seeing a tendency to wait until disaster strikes sufficiently to cause corrective action to ensue. It'll be interesting to see how they deal with possible solutions in the future. It will take time for Lance to get fully prepared to assume a starting role as our QB, if that's deemed to be a potential solution.
