If the Chargers beat us, Jerry might be forced to start Lance

I voted yes because it’s impractical to dump a top third QB because of a periodic bad game. He’s had games like this before, and then bounced back just fine.

Dak will be Dallas’ starting QB opening day in 2025. Not because I’m some spiteful Eagles fan, but because it’s the most practical thing to do.
Shut up bro.

The Eagles cut Donovan McNabb and went with Michael Vick

The Eagles drafted Hurts while Wentz was on their roster.

The Eagles traded away Wentz and went with an unproven Hurts.

You just want us to stay mediocre and disguise it as "safe"

about the only thing that would move Jerry is if some key players like Micah let it be known that they have no confidence in current QB.

of course they would have to do so in such a way as not to be confrontational so Jerry wouldn't dig his heels in even harder.

Dad does need to be benched, but he won't be. They'll keep starting him, no matter how bad he plays. If for some reason Dak doesn't play (due to injury, illness, etc.), then Cooper Rush will play. Trey Lance doesn't know the system well enough yet.

That will not happen. Jerry is never willing to take a step backwards for the potential greater good. Not saying Lance is the answer. If The SF game starts a progressive slide for Dak then maybe after the season this conversation starts. Not before. BTW the old adage was always that it took 2 years to teach/learn the west coast offense. Haven't heard that mentioned.

A lot....many, many....NFL teams are QB needy. If Mr. Lance had shown much promise then the Cowboys would not have gotten him for a 4th and $7 million. Some team would have given more/higher draft picks etc.

Now he was probably worth what the team paid for him as a PROJECT....a future hope in seasons to come. It is just going to happen this season for him here....maybe later.

I think the Cowboys bounce back and beat the Chargers.
But IF they don't, all of the OP's concerns will be proven true and consequently effect longterm changes at both HC and QB.

I know Lance has to get familiar with our system, but remember, this guy has already been in the league for 3 seasons. It's not like he was just drafted this past April. It would be kind of dumb to give up a 4th found pick, pay him $7 mullion of his salary just so he walks in 2 years. I hope he gets a chance to see what he can do. He might be a big bust, but we won't know that until he gets some playing time with us.

I think if it alls go down behind the scenes. Dak suffers an "injury" that sidelines him this year. They won't bench him because that would be an admission of fault and could potentially hurt ticket sales.
there is literally nothing outside of infectious disease in the stadium that could hurt ticket sales. be serious

Mcnabb was traded away after 11 years in Philadelphia. If that’s your comp then Dak is definitely getting another extension.

We did not draft Hurts to replace Wentz, it just worked out that way. We traded away Wentz because he became a lockerroom distraction when his relationship with the head coach deteriorated after a 4 win season. Dak Prescott is the opposite of a lockerroom distraction, and has no real shot at being on a bad team in the immediate future.

Derek Carr situation is much more in line with what’ll like happen to Dak. It’d take year of missing the playoffs before the team gives up on him.

He is not going to start Lance this early in the season. But if he was smart, he would activate Lance later in the season to see if he can get some playing time in blowout games. It would be good to see if there is a chance he can be the starter in the future.

But given the Cowboys offense and defense, I am wondering if we will see anymore blowout games.

Lance would have played in last week's blowout if he were better than Sam Darnold.
