If the Cowboys don't go heavy in FA, why not re-sign Dak?

Would this team go out and get the top DT, RB or LB on the free agent market if we had a QB on a rookie deal or even between 20-30 mil a year? Probably not.

I'm not on the Dak bandwagon, but the best bet is probably extending Dak and shoring up the run offense AND defense.

I AM on the Dak Bandwagon and extending him at 60 mil a year will still allow us to get the top FA players needed.

I mean, if we don't extend him, who's gonna replace him?

Give the man his bag and let's go get those blue chip FAs!

Yeah, based on what Goff got and his playoff success, I don't think Dak deserves more than 53 mil. He'll probably get more because of the market, but Goff has been to two championship games and a Super Bowl. Dak has two playoff wins in 9 seasons. That's unacceptable. If it's me, Dak deserves somewhere in the 45-50 mil range.

How many Deer in the Headlights performances do you need to see from Dak to comprehend that WE ARE GOING NOWHERE TO GLORY WITH HIM???????????????????
Jeez you guy like beating on dog teams and getting embarrassed by teams like the Bills, Niners, etc etc.
The kid just isn't qualified to take us to the next level.

The real problem is not necessarily resigning Dak, it is that GM Jethro kept restructuring Dak's contract to sign other vets like Gallup.

The average fan does not understand the difference between a contract and salary cap.

We have $40M in cap for Dak next year, even though he has already been paid that money. So even if we signed Dak to an 4 year $55M contract, with the $40M in cap still owed it would still average $65M.

They need to work out a long term deal in my opinion at least 5 years and will still most likely have to eat dead cap space when he retires.

Goff was traded from the Super Bowl team, what does that tell you? Solely blaming 1 position for the failure of the team is super short sighted. Why did Goff not reach the super bowl last season? That was a huge choke job in San Fran by him but yet he's getting a pass and not Solely receiving criticism like Dak would've, even from our own fans.

Trust me, I'm not a fan, but don't you think if the running scheme and run defense was better, there'd be a less likely chance of seeing that deer in the headlights look? Dallas isn't that far off.

Yes, Goff was traded by the Rams and it's been a win-win for both teams. Rams got their ring and now the Lions are contenders for the first time in decades.

Exactly. Where the FO messed up was signing Dak late, and then the contract blunders of Zeke and Gallup, and you could also argue trading Cooper. They missed big time.

LOL..............Unless you give him the lead and get at least 2-3 T/O by our defense and over 100 yards rushing no way you are even reaching the NFCCG with Deer in the Headlights.
P.S. Now find me the Cap to surround inepto when he's making 60 million a year????????????????

I was open to the idea of trading Cooper to see what we could get in exchange. However, after Gallup tore his ACL and we had no good offers, it made absolutely no sense.

mr TheSport----Jerry said "we are all in this season"....so just because he did nothing so far in free agency (per say)...and blew off getting a RB in draft and better receiver before

either 6th or 7th round......maybe Jerry has an "ACE" up his sleeve.....or maybe he thought getting Zimmer wouls solve all of his defensive woes and offensive too?.....i am still very

upset at how we got "rocked" in wild card and not seeing any action when Jerry said "we are all in" this season?....if he tries to bait & Switch us....final straw

It blows me away to hear another man say what another man should get on his paycheck. I mean...think about this...if someone who has not had step foot in any man's role, shoes, or has his skillset to say what he should be making....is somewhat disturbing. Let another man determine what you should be making and it's a different ballgame. Stay out of that man's pockets.

What if Dak's agent is asking for 100M per season?

No way to judge signing or not signing Dak without knowing the agent's asking price.

Salaries of pro athletes are debated and talked about every single day by sports media and journalist.

They don't PERSONALLY care what an athletes bank account looks like.....they discuss it because there's a pesky little thing called a SALARY CAP and a players salary need to be commensurate with his salary cap burden so it's fair game.

If the sports media and its journalist are allowed to discuss it without triggering somebody; why can't the fans?

Nobody personally gives a fat crap what another man makes so the virtue signaling doesn't apply here

Are the Lions not contenders if they kept Stafford?
Probably yes. In 2021 the Lions did 3 things. They hired a new GM, head coach, and traded Stafford. The two first rounders probably helped them build. But new management helped them turn that around quick. Stafford spent a lifetime under crap management in Detroit.
