If the Cowboys don't go heavy in FA, why not re-sign Dak?

Everyone keeps saying that. what's the goal? To win a championship or have a QB? If you can't win a championship, what are you paying for?
That would be under the assumption winning a championship is our owners initial priority.

While he wants to win , he only wants to win his way. And a playoff caliber QB, despite his lack of success in playoffs, is enough for the Cowboys to remain “relative and interesting” which are his words.

Starting over with a new QB which is an unknown quantity isn’t attractive to our owner. He’d rather stay in mediocrity than risk hitting rock bottom which is more difficult to hype and promote with uncertainty it returns to playoff form.

This is a good enough product to hype and promote maintaining record revenue. And less pressure and energy for him to rebuild and find another QB good enough to lead them to playoffs.

"playoff caliber QB, despite his lack of success in playoffs",

There's a contradiction in there somewhere...

The overall point is that in our owners view he has a QB that’s enough to win regular season games to take them to the playoffs.

You don’t have to advance or have success in playoffs to be one who’s enough to lead their team there. It’s not a contradiction at all.

I agree completely with you. What I am referring to are fans that say that. Shouldn't a fan's priority be to win a championship?

To truly answer this question, go back and watch the presser after the game. And pay attention to Jerry. Jerry is completely lost after that game. I would conjecture that Jerry has not resigned Dak because he doesn't believe in him anymore. And I'm not sure he wants to resign him.

Don't forget, Jerry doesn't do anything that is aligned w/ logic. Rather, he does whatever he feels. And after that game, it absolutely looked as if he "feels" Dak won't get it done. The not even attempting to resign Dak speaks volumes.

Unfortunately in the end all that matters is our leaderships priorities. And if they don’t align with ours then we must hold them accountable holding their feet to the fire .

This is where we have failed this era as fans continuing to support with record revenue for a product we as fans aren’t happy with. It’s sent our leadership the wrong message.

We all interpret the actions or lack of actions from Jethro differently .

I would agree he looked bewildered after that playoff turd. . But was it a feeling he doesn’t still believe in Dak or just the shock and embarrassment of the team’s performance along with knowing the public retribution?

Can’t be totally sure at this point. There’s still time for him to resign Dak. The fact he hasn’t yet doesn’t necessarily support he doesn’t have intentions but possibly more to playing to public perception by not pulling the trigger too soon on setting Market Price after such a debacle in playoffs.

He’s maintained he still is “ all in” on his core stars, that he’s “ waiting on the leaves to fall” on other QB’s contracts in offseason. This doesn’t mean he couldnt totally abort everything he’s said to this point. Which you admit his history of doing as he pleases going against logic.

I think fans are generally putting too much into the fact we haven’t resign him yet. Jethro traditionally has played these high profile contracts out in many cases to the point he’s left little choice but to cave in if he’s intent on retaliating them.

Surely fans don’t also believe of the inaction not resigning Parsons or Lamb yet that’s he’s going to let them walk too. We shall see but I’m suspect many fans aren’t reading it right based more on their hopeful wishes than the games our old fool is playing.
