Dak is a 21.4% cap hit at the moment. Usually QBs on rookie contracts, or around 13% and under get to SBs. Mahomes being the exception.

2023, Purdy on a rookie contract.
2022, Hurts on a rookie contract.
2021, Burrow on a rookie deal, Stafford was around 11-12%.
2020, Brady had a very low cap hit, I forget the %.
2019, Garoppolo was around 10%
2018, Goff on a rookie deal, I don't know what Brady was at.
2017, Wentz on a rookie deal. Foles was a backup. Brady again.

You get the idea. Very few QBs above the 13% mark even get to the SB.

Would this team go out and get the top DT, RB or LB on the free agent market if we had a QB on a rookie deal or even between 20-30 mil a year? Probably not.

I'm not on the Dak bandwagon, but the best bet is probably extending Dak and shoring up the run offense AND defense.

Dak can't get it done. He has had many years with good teams and isn't able to step up or make the others around him play better. Worse.... it is obvious how much worse his play is when it comes crunch time. You don't pay a qb the money he is asking for to be meh! There is no way to justify paying him like he is Mahomes.
