I don't like how Jerry gets sentimentally attached to players. It seems like once you get on Jerry's good side, he'll keep you around for a while even if it's detrimental to the team.
We've seen this since Emmit, and several other players.
People say it was one of the worst drafts for quarterbacks, and there's some truth to that. But it wasn't so bad that you can't go pick up one of the better prospects in last year's draft to be your backup for a while, or at least 3rd string to develop.
Carson Strong had a knee injury and was told never to play again. But he went back and played and played very well. Like 70 percent completion rating and has a freaking cannon for an arm.
Then, the guy that whipped us from Denver, Josh Johnson, is also out there, if you need a healthier guy without the potential for a knee injury.
I'm cool with them keeping one of those three guys. To me, it doesn't matter who, but I would suggest Greir or DiNucci if you just have to keep one.
I think we all know that it's entirely possible to upgrade at backup quarterback.
Yes, it's nice to be able release all of your QBs knowing that no one is stupid enough to pick them up so you can stash guys on IR.
But when it comes time to play a game, and Dak gets hurt, we're going to wish we had better players than these guys.
Enough with this sunk cost nonsense.
Cut bait and upgrade.
I hate to use such a cliche' term, but this is such a no-brainer.
