Should they tank (lose out) and secure a higher draft pick for next year's draft?

I mean, if the Cowboys lose to the Bengals, they would be at 5 - 8 with only 4 games left in the season. A loss on Monday Night against the Bengals would pretty much eliminate our Cowboys from reaching the playoffs, so why not lose out and secure a much higher draft pick?

What say you?

Yes. Not tank on purpose. But play all the younger players as much as they can. Including Trey.
But we know Jerry is senile and will not do it.

A loss means the best they can do is 9-8. And will only be competing for the 7th seed. Washington is at what, 8 wins. This pretty much eliminates Dallas with 4 games left. If Dallas loses. Especially of Washington wins this week as well. As then there is Seattle, Arizona, Rams, TB Atlanta all fighting for their division and that 7th seed As well. And they all are ahead of Dallas. Then there is SF in that mix with Dallas too.

Minnesota and GB battling for 5 and 6 seed.

lol if.

I have been saying this before the season started, this team is to good to get a top 10 pick. Even with an awful QB they manage to beat a decent team. There is no tanking in the equation. Not with a coach and players playing for their careers. It’s why you’re not seeing the future CFL star Trey Lance starting any games. There will be no tanking.

Teams are not allowed to Tank to secure a higher draft pick. In the NFL, it doesn't seem to happen as often as it does in other sports either. Cowboys will still try to win games.

Teams absolutely tank. They'll just play third stringers in key positions and it takes care of itself without looking like tanking.

Start Lance after the Cincy game. Loss 5 competitive games in a row and get a top 7-10 pick!

What game of the season do those team usually start doing that at? Teams can get in a lot of trouble if they obviously tank. You can say you are trying to test out what you have at quarterback, but then when you rest all the starters, and it isn't the last couple of games, you don't think it would cause an uproar?

Bro if we lose to them Jerry will say some usual robotic stuff like I thought we played a fine game, we obviously didn't think we would lose this game, but I still feel we have enough in us to push for the playoffs lol
“Riddled with injuries” is the story. Proud of our effort. Make sure you buy a jersey… Blah blah blah.

Starting Lance would make them bad enough, you’re right, but Jerry and Mike isn’t starting Lance unless Cooper goes down. If Cooper doesn't go down, they are going to get a middling pick in the draft this year. Probably pick 12-15 or something. Even if they lose to Cincy they are sticking with Cooper. There is no benefit to starting Lance. He isn’t a possible QB of the future or a possible 2nd QB of the future (if he was this he would have started by now).

I did the playoff machine and even when Dallas won out they didn't make the playoffs.

There were a couple of long shot scenarios where they made the playoffs, but Dallas each time, Dallas had to win out.

So losing makes more sense.

Why do you say that when you know that won't happen?

They could lose to the Bengals and then lose to the Panthers and they won't tank.

They could lose to the Bengals and then lose to the Panthers and the Bucs and they won't tank.

I could go on but you get my point. They aren't tanking.

Teams that are competing with the Commanders, Buccaneers, and Eagles for playoffs and/or seeding would appreciate the Cowboys playing to win. Tanking is for fans to talk about when all they have left to be excited about is the next draft. Pro football coaches will not tank, particularly if they’re not even signed for the season the improved draft picks would join the team. Why do fans of any team bring up this ignorant nonsense?
