I hate that most in the media and fans just now talk about QB's when it comes to the MVP race.

Miami wouldn't of been so deadly offensively without Hill. Chiefs rode Mahomes and Kelce last year but offensively they've taken a step back without Hill.

The scheme Shanahan runs helps Purdy in San Fran. Still a good QB, but guys like CMC is the real engine for that offense.

To me, Dak got hot at a big point of the season but has cooled off in the final stretch. Not 100% his fault, but seeing Dallas get beatdown by the Bills and then lose to the Dolphins with the division on the line does play a role. With a race still up for grabs with 2 games left it becomes a what have you done lately to get some W's to seal the deal

Nice stats, but here's what voters will remember. Dak went to San Fran on national TV, did nothing and the Cowboys got blown out. Then Lamar went to San Fran...

It just goes to show how silly this award is, so I'm not sure why any fan cares about it.

I can tell you every time the Cowboys won the SB, and the score of that game. I have no idea who won the MVP in any of those seasons.
Super Bowl MVP is the only MVP that matters.

This is over….dak had a huge platform to win the award and was terrible against Buffalo and ok against Miami but both losses. Jackson has wins against ; San Francisco, Cleveland, Detroit, bengals, rams, and a chance to also beat Miami this week.

Those are good quality wins particularly San Fran, Detroit, Cleveland. Another win against Miami and it’s a lock. The stats are close enough but winning against good opponents down the stretch is where you differentiate yourself. Dak had his chance.

You said the scheme helps Purdy but CMC is the engine. Does the scheme help CMC?

Cool. Some fans like to debate it.

Fair or not, Dallas had to win one of the last 2 games for Dak to remain in contention.
I think the award comes down to the Miami vs Balt game this weekend. Lamar is squarely in the driver's seat. Tua can make it interesting with a win in Balt and then vs BUF.

Not sure on the OL, but Dak does have the better WRs. TE? First half of the season yes the Ravens had it better, now? Not as much.
I'm not buying Lamar personally.
Not dismissing Purdy for one bad outing either.
Dak is still in it, IMO.

And, I'd still be open to CMac, or THill.

Last two weeks can make or break any of them.
The Ravens defense crushes opponents like a python. All Lamar has to do is make a few plays a game and don’t turn the ball over. Lamar is one a of a kind.

Purdy doesn't only throw short passes, as he is in the top 3-5 in passes completed over 20 yards, and is #5 in passing yards in air, and has been a lot more comfortable and accurate on deeper passes. But to me their offense is loaded with guys like Kittle, Aiyuk, Deebo and CMC, with 2-3 of those guys being YAC monsters.
For example, the Eagles game, the 49ers had 212 passing yards after the catch. Out of Deebo's 116 yards on 4 catches, 115 came after the catch. Purdy has grown some more this season but has also had some bad games here a dn there. It happens, but I feel like the straw that stirs that offense is the threat of CMC in the run/pass game than Purdy.

I mean, it could be like the 2014 Dallas Cowboys were Romo was playing great but so was Murray. Some may lean towards the QB, others the RB.

Shanahan is using CMC correctly but he's also been playing just as well, if not better than his days in Carolina where he was already considered a top 3-5 back. CMC broke the previous NFL record for consecutive games with a TD. Sure, some of it comes from the coaches calling a run at the GL instead of a sneak/pass but he's been lights out since joining the 49ers. It was a good fit for CMC to join the 49ers. He's also an lock to exceed 2k total yards as well with over 21 TDs.

Slightly OT, but it's annoying seeing a team with a good amount of talent find a diamond in the rough rookie QB and then continue to building aggressively around him. Dallas just relied on the draft until the 2018 start forced their hand to trade for Cooper(after cutting Dez later). Even with re-signing Bosa to a monster deal the 49ers then went out and bolstered their front 7 some more.

Strength of victory
Dak .387
Lamar .517

Huge difference in the quality of wins. Dak may be the best in the league in beating down bad teams at home. I don't think it's worthy of the MVP though. The Most Valuable Player in the entire league should be able to have a signature win on the road. Lamar just got his vs. 49ers. It's not a pure stat award. The Eagles lost 3 in a row and Dak should have lead his team to the division but just lost two in a row.

Almost all of Dak's stats came against some of the worst teams in the NFL this season. Not really sure on Baltimore's schedule, but stats don't really mean much when you can't win the big games.

Why do some of you care more about Dak winning MVP vs dallas winning as a team ?

MVP is not based on stats …. which are bloated based on schedule matchups.

Lamar went into SF and handed out a whooping ….. where did Dak go into and hand out a much needed road win this season? Carolina ?

I get it though he should be handed the MVP ….

Baltimore has had one of the toughest schedules. They have wins over Texans, Bengals 2x, Browns 2x, Lions, Seahawks, Rams, Jaguars, 49ers. They still have to face Miami this Sunday then close with Steelers at home. The 3 games they lost were by a combined 12 points to Browns, Steelers and Colts. Ravens have only lost once on the road vs. 5 times for us. Lamar has not gotten blown out, Dak has multiple times.

The only way I could see Dak winning strictly on stats seeing that we're likely to be the #5 seed and we lost so many on the road and got blown out several times and beat all bad teams except Philly and Seattle at home is if he had a historical season like 50 TDs and 7 INTs, not 30 TDs 7 INTs.
