CFZ If the QB doesn't get a new contract, how will you watch this season?

True fans will pull for the team.

The reason Dak is so polarizing is his inconsistency. He's capable of playing both brilliantly and awfully- so there's something for the lovers and haters both!

Some fans have reached the conclusion (correct or not), that Dak will never lead the team to a championship. For those fans, it's an easy decision to move on, because there's nothing to lose in their minds.

I will pull for wins no matter who is back there at QB. Or if in the last year of their contract or not. Since we have a good team.
I never liked Cam Newton, but if he were to play for Dallas, I would root for him to do good.

Now if we were a losing team, and not expected to compete, I would still want to win, but once eliminated, that may be different.

I posed this in another thread but thought it would be an interesting topic here, if all posters can really be honest with their answers.

First off, I am going to say Prescott is a more polarizing player than Romo was and I could see fans of the team actually pulling against their own team to try and get rid of him.

It is an oddity but it is there, many just don't want him to be the DC QB. The question is enough to pull against him and the team?

I gotta say, if I disliked him at QB as much as some here do, and evidently that is not exclusive to the Zone, I might be tempted to pull for a QB crash and burn.

And I am not going to ask if not him, then whom because those that really dislike Prescott do not care, I really do believe they have arrived at "anyone but him".

I am also not going to say if they go that route they are not good fans. Plenty of fans have pulled for their teams to get worse in order to get better.

So, my question is mainly to those that do not like him. If he does not get a new contract, can you pull for him and the team knowing he will get another one and most likely larger than the extension he might have gotten?

Oh, I know, the Joneses intend on extending him but they intended on getting him on a new contract before they had to do that 160M one. He's bet on himself before and won.
My dream scenario and one that will produce at least 2 Superbowls in the next 7 years.
Tank 0-17 to have the # 1 pick in the draft.
Draft your new Troy Aikman.
Prescott's Purgatory must end ASAP!!!!
ENOUGH ALREADY!

Fans are fans for different reasons. I became a Chargers fan because they drafted Lance Alworth.

Some follow their college players to the pros and become a fan of that team.

I do not have a definition for true fans because it is a personal choice and mostly based on emotion, logic doesn't enter into being a fan unless the team is local to you.

They're going to wait and see with Dak and MM I believe.
I can never root against any player or coach for 60 minutes on GameDay.
But I will explain exactly how I feel about his play if he's pooing the bed!
After game? call for heads.

Once again with the erroneous equating of the opinion that Dak is not consistent enough to go through the playoff grind and win the SB with rooting against the Cowboys. That is so ridiculous it borders on the absurd or exposes an "us vs them" attitude that is 99% of the problems in this world right now.

I think the Cowboys should find a better QB, but I want to win each game no matter who the QB is.

What is so nuanced about this that makes it difficult to comprehend without resorting to the "hater" rhetoric?

let me prove myself and then pay me.
And therein lies the problem some of us have with Dak... he was paid top dollar without first having earned it. He wouldn't have as many detractors if he had taken the team far into the playoffs, like the NFCCG at a minimum, before demanding top dollar. But that isn't how it went down.

But I know, there are other QB's in the league who didn't earn it any more than Dak did.

I am a DC fan regardless of who the QB is and always want the team to be successful and advance to atleast play in a Super Bowl.

Therein lies my conundrum because I don’t think QB1 can get us there, but if he does I will be very happy and gladly eat crow.

Why can't people be allowed to form their own opinions without being labeled? They're haters because their opinions don't align with yours, right? You wouldn't be labeling them haters otherwise.

I will watch either way and hope the Cowboys and Dak win every game, but I hope they do not extend him this year for a couple of reasons.

First, they can already absorb his large cap hit so no reason to push some of that down the road.

More importantly though, I think they should wait to see how he performs in McCarthy's offense with him calling the plays.

It may be that Dak plays much better with a more timely-used running game and McCarthy's offensive style or it may be that Kellen was compensating for Dak's weaknesses (all quarterbacks have them) and those start to show more under McCarthy.

If Dak has a great season and goes deep into the post-season or reaches the Super Bowl, he deserves a big new contract.

If the 2023 season ends just like the last two seasons or worse, then I think the Cowboys need to focus on finding their next quarterback and not being locked into a huge contract at that position would make that much easier.

NOT COMPLAINING so please don’t delete but are the mods on some kind of directive to come up with ingenious ways to create Dak threads?

No you’re haters because for the 1 billionth time a hater is someone like you who almost ALWAYS *****es and complains and mostly about Dak. It’s ok to criticize a player, coach, etc. but to DO NOTHING but rag on Dak is a friken hater.

It is the off-season. People are going to talk about the positions that concern them.

With quarterback being the most important position of course people are going to create threads about it.

You do not have to read every one of the Dak threads nor do you have to post in them.

You choose to do that, so that's on you.
