If we are cutting above average starter talent anyway

I predict that the Cowboys, who have a fully loaded roster, will make a big trade prior to the final cuts, for a high powered running back. In this situation, there are plenty of quality players who will be released. This is a moment to capitalize on the good young talent we have.

Rather than trying to trade young, unknown players, though, I am hoping that Dallas will trade someone like Terrance Williams, maybe Ron Leary, and Weeden, (if anyone would take him) in a package deal for a premier running back, and possibly another player or draft pick in return. Letting La'El Collins take the LG spot, or Devin Street take Williams spot, will free up an unknown, like Porter, for example to get on the roster.

Adding that final piece to the running game would be a terrific move. Insert your favorite running back here.

What was the last multiple player for single player trade?

Right now I don't think you could trade Weeden to the Arena football league.

They are not trading away a top player or a top depth player. As been posted, possibly a player that would be cut, if a team needs a player for depth. And will be for a 6th or 7th round pick. Like they did for Lissemore a few years ago.

Possibly, but unlikely, a player for player, like one of our younger bubble type DL for a DB or swing tackle if they don't resolve that soon. Outside possibility for a RB even.

I could see a 7th for an OT or a HB. If you want names, like a Mike Adams or a Bryce Brown

I can't think of a single above average starter quality player we are cutting
I do think we will cut a guy or two that can play in this league
Trading Williams would be silly and destroy your depth at WR
Weeden has no trade value
I think it's possible we could trade a guy like Hanna or maybe one of the dline guys and get a late pick
But we are not and shouldn't trade one of our starting wr's
And unless just the right situation came up I don't see us trading for a RB or any other player really
About the only trade I could see us make, and it's very unlikely, could be for a OT
But really I think we could sign a guy who gets teleased but not seeing a trade
I think the staff is more satisfied with our roster than some fans are

are we just going to get nothing for him an let him walk as a FA

get something for him

You can end your hopes for a top notch RB in any trade scenario.
I am putting my hopes in next years draft specifically for Ezekiel Elliott or Derrick Henry.

This trade idea is how Jerry circa 1995-2009 would have done it.

But this is more how Dallas does things these days. They will draft a back... and Zeke would be more than fine by me.

If they do anything this year it will be picking up a back or two from the roster cuts at the end of camps.

Hannah may be the only player I can see us getting a pick for. Maybe Gardner if he has a couple more good preseason games. I could see Dunbar if we pick up a HB post cuts, but probably a 2017 6th or 7th just because HBs dont seem to have much value

So much angst about a position that's just not all that important to begin with and where we have a player we like in the lineup already, anyway.

Teams don't swap starters the week they start preparing for the regular season. It's not going to happen. What you might see is teams flipping players who were 2nd string the season before and who are near free agency anyway who a younger player really pushes in camp. We might flip a T McClain or a Hanna or, before the injury, a Claiborne for a backup RB we think can contribute who was in danger of not making his own roster. Or we might add a 5th WR who can give us something in the return game in exchange for a DL we'd otherwise try to get to the PS. But that's about the extent of the dealing any of us should hope for.
