If we are cutting above average starter talent anyway

So much angst about a position that's just not all that important to begin with and where we have a player we like in the lineup already, anyway.

Teams don't swap starters the week they start preparing for the regular season. It's not going to happen. What you might see is teams flipping players who were 2nd string the season before and who are near free agency anyway who a younger player really pushes in camp. We might flip a T McClain or a Hanna or, before the injury, a Claiborne for a backup RB we think can contribute who was in danger of not making his own roster. Or we might add a 5th WR who can give us something in the return game in exchange for a DL we'd otherwise try to get to the PS. But that's about the extent of the dealing any of us should hope for.

Sadly nobody is going to listen.

If we don't have a fantasy football top 3 round pick at RB we might as well forfeit the season.

I quit reading after seeing 'trade WR T. Williams.'

Well, it doesn't have to be Terrance Williams, maybe there's another player, like Mincey that someone would trade for. Plenty of quality DL on this roster. And we don't have to trade for a starting running back, we can trade for a rookie running back that is still a project, but shows a great burst, with some size. I think Dallas has a carbon copy of Randle, who can't block as well... and that's Dunbar. He's expendable, too.

We just resigned Mincey. Why would we trade him. And no team is going to trade a player they just draft

I could see a 7th for an OT or a HB. If you want names, like a Mike Adams or a Bryce Brown

BTB reported some speculation being bandied about lately about Lawrence Gibson taking over for Weems at OT. It seems Gibson has been coming on lately. (Just passing it on, not necessarily predicting it will happen.)

No, it doesn't and for good reason. He hasn't been especially impressive lately, despite Broaddus saying he wasn't really as bad as everyone is making him out to be. He may say that but he surely wasn't good, either.

I predict that the Cowboys, who have a fully loaded roster, will make a big trade prior to the final cuts, for a high powered running back. In this situation, there are plenty of quality players who will be released. This is a moment to capitalize on the good young talent we have.

Rather than trying to trade young, unknown players, though, I am hoping that Dallas will trade someone like Terrance Williams, maybe Ron Leary, and Weeden, (if anyone would take him) in a package deal for a premier running back, and possibly another player or draft pick in return. Letting La'El Collins take the LG spot, or Devin Street take Williams spot, will free up an unknown, like Porter, for example to get on the roster.

Adding that final piece to the running game would be a terrific move. Insert your favorite running back here.

literally none of that will happen.

I think we will need to keep our depth and check the waiver wire. If we didn't draft anyone, sign or trades for a rb before the draft we are going to have to lay in this bed.

This seems more like wishful thinking than a prediction.
They aren't going to trade their #2 WR at the start of the season.
Leary is more likely, but I don't see them trading a starting o-lineman in favor of using a rookie, either.

You know, I really should have not used any players names specifically. Rather than trade a player on the bubble, the concept is to trade one of your quality starters with several years of experience, for a quality running back from another team.

Pick any starter. Pick a running back that is not a Randle/Dunbar clone.

It is not a bad thought but you may be aiming too high.

A RB of any value will probably cost a higher pick than we would get for one of our cuts.

But we are expecting several comp picks next year, so we could be aggressive with trading picks for a RB.

Then trade off a couple bubble guys and recoup a couple late round picks.

.

I'm certain that you're not following what I'm saying. DON'T trade anyone on the bubble. Teams know that you'll cut someone on the bubble. If you like a player that you have on the bubble, keep him. Trade an established starter at that position instead. Cut Dunbar with the new running back you get.

I think Leary is gone by week by the trade deadline

are we just going to get nothing for him an let him walk as a FA

get something for him

How about they give him a 2nd Rd tender, since he is a RFA you know, and have a very good OG for cheap or trade him so someone else has a very good OG for cheap.
