If we can force two punts a game we'll win

I won't be bashful I think we're going to put up in the 30s a game if we're healthy.

Ezekiel Elliott might be better than Murray in not one but all facets of the game. I think by week 5 or 6 we'll see that. He is already a hard worker and he's going to be watching guys like Tony Dez Witten and Lee out there no way he doesn't bring the same work ethic.

Dez is a top 3 WR in the game when healthy. Stack the box or double Dez ya can't do both. You think he doesn't hear everyone talking about ODB? He will come out pissed

The OL played well last year, but they hear all the talk about how they didn't. They'll come out extremely pissed off. I look for La'el to become a top 3 guard in the league this season.

Witten is still a top 5 tight end. He just is. Ok he doesn't do what Gronk does but not even Tony G in his prime did what Gronk does. Has he lost a step? Sure. Is his blocking fantastic? At times it is and at times you're like wow another false start. There isn't 5 better all around tight ends than him.

Beasley is one of the better slot guys when Romo is at qb. Williams makes great plays at times and plays then sometimes he disappears. An upgrade there would be nice but I can live with an adequate number 2 being our biggest problem on offense.

And finally Tony Romo. Many will scoff and that's ok but Brady and Rodgers are the only qbs I would rather have for the next two seasons. I'm not a huge believer in karma but I think good things happen for good people. Tony deserves a ring maybe more than anyone in the league who doesn't already have one.

Honestly if we're healthy there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't be the best offense in the NFL. We get a turnover here or a punt there and that should be enough. Most times when teams win a Super Bowl they're totally dominate on one side of the ball and adequate on the other. We can easily be both those things. My mom made enough kool aide for everyone hope you like cherry

Forcing those punts instead of giving up 1st downs, or TD's, means the D is doing ok. And yes will be huge. but also if those punts allows a return, not a fair catch at the 10.

Witten hasn't just lost a step, he lost 2. But still wouldn't want any one else out there. His knowledge to get open and make plays is far better than those 2 steps at times. Just need to get him to run them routes and not get stopped short of a first down. And stop those false starts at times.

OL just isn't playing with a chip on their shoulder, it's a boulder, and a weight they will carry just fine. The Pancake House will be up and running in full gear, and Zeke will be the TD syrup as the results.
Odell will wish he was Dez after this season, and he will think, dang I wish I had Tony for a QB.

Agree, Tony as Witten, deserve a SB win. Tony has had it tough, from the media to the fans, he still don't seem to get the respect he deserves. I would bet that the media will be right back on him this year, after throwing a pick, as well as some fans. No appreciation there. A SB will shut most of them up, for a little while...then it will be, well he only did it once. I will settle for once for this year.

Looking forward to this year for sure!

Dallas should have a top 5 offense. No excuses.

But forcing 2 punts won't guarantee a win. Turnover, penalties, FGs vs TDs, and other things....all determine the outcome even if the offense is playing well.

A rookie, an oft injured player of late and an aging TE. Yes, that is the case...but what if they all play at their best...then and only then yes I agree. Jerry and Co. are taking lots of risks...but if they pay off..oh boy!!!

Forcing two punts and guaranteeing a win, means that the those two possessions we have to score at least once, and be tied or ahead outside of those two punts. We could score 6 FGs, and the other team scores 3 TDs and we still lose.

Two punts, two turnovers, three field goal attempts. The rest touchdowns.

That's about 20-23 points allowed.

That should be the defense's goal.

yep.
I think that's what I essentially just wrote:

Yeah, that's not how it works

A team gets the ball roughly 12 times a game..."the rest touchdowns" is already 35 points right there...

The 2014 squad averaged 29 points a game, all time best. So you are saying this offense is going to score above that?

I believe minus Witten everyone else will be improved from that 2014 so yes to answer your question. Will it turn out that way? We'll see. But I believe we can put extra 3-7 on the board

A ball control team, like in 2014, reduces possessions to about 9-10 each.

Good to read some optimistic posts! Great way to start a Saturday!

  • Dez I believe is still a top 5-7 WR but not a top 3 anymore. Deandre Hopkins, ODB, Julio Jones, AJ green, Demarius Thomas, Antonio Brown ect. Plus some up an coming young wideouts like Amari Cooper and Stefan Diggs. Oh and I wouldn't double Dez anymore I'd stick my best CB on him (like Norman or Jenkins )and call it the day.
  • Witten has lost many steps, we need to replace him ASAP. But I'd take any of these guys to replace him: Greg Olson, Gronk, Marty B, Jordan Reed, Ertz, Travis Kelce, and Delaney Walker - I'm ok Owen Daniels too
Overall the offense will be potent! And the defense should be impotent

Dallas should have a top 5 offense. No excuses.

Cowboys ranked 7th in total offense in 2014 and that was with Murray, Romo and Dez having career years. Both Romo and Murray each received a couple of MVP votes. With Romo aging and the team trying to keep him healthy don't think he'll be able to produce the numbers it would take for us to be ranked top 5 offensively. Our 7th ranked offense in 2014 was due to Romo being very efficient and Murray putting up over 1800 yards rushing. Not saying it isn't possible for the offense to be ranked top 5 this season but Romo would have to account for a lot in the passing game and that would put his health at more risk.

The Cowboys ranked 3rd in offense in 2007 with Romo passing for over 4200 yards and a career high 36 TD's. In 2012 we ranked 6th in total offense with Romo passing for almost 5000 yards. Zeke would have to have a very productive rookie year and the combination of our backs will have to give us a top 5 running game to help support Romo for us to be a top 5 offense in 2016. The offense will have to rank pretty high to try and mask some of the problems we could face defensively.

Punts = 0 points for the opponent.

I don't care if we force zero turnovers a whole game as long as we force a bunch of punts.

The object of the game is to win on third down and outscore your opponent.

And have the most points in the last post season game of the year.

I would take single coverage all day with Dez.....he was injuried last season not poor play

Same thing with sacks. If we are getting stops I don't care about sacks or turnovers. It becomes a problem when you aren't getting turnovers or sacks and can't stop the other team
